Gitana is an exciting project to realise the very clear vision of experienced owners, working in concert with Frers design for naval architecture and exterior styling, and with Rhoades Young for interior design.
The essence of Gitana is a powerful, easily driven high performance yacht with imaginative, modern and minimalist styling. Frers has paid considerable attention to the underbody to maximise lift and minimise drag: the fixed keel is deep, with short chord length; the rudder like the mast is carbon fibre. The tall, high-aspect sloop rig with composite standing rigging offers powerful windward performance and low aerodynamic drag, a factor that also influenced (along with aesthetic considerations) the location of furlers below deck.
Below decks the master cabin, aft, is complemented by four guest cabins, one of which doubles as a gym / library. The crew quarters are generous and also feature a launderette, office and large dinette. A good deal of thought has been applied to an environment that both visually and practically obviates clutter. This will be a smart and stylish experience and one that makes efforts to ensure that Gitana leaves only positive “footprints” wherever she travels.
Gitana is scheduled for delivery in 2011.
