The newly established British company Glider Yachts has announced that they have secured major funding in order to commence the build of the first of its fleet. A consortium of private investors and the Glider Yachts team and Advisory Board are behind the funding.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153626/image/large-e3d5c1aafbf2d062f7e207ea830788f2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153626">The vessel is called the Super Sports 18 (SS18), and will be part of Glider Yachts’ three ranges of yachts. With a unique hull form, she will be able to glide in comfort at speeds of up to 70mph.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153627/image/large-c8df778ac93662330515d554ffe60858.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153627">The SS18 will make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in late September this year, with a media launch prior to the Show taking place at the end of summer. Suave and sophisticated but also welcoming and family-friendly, the colour palette in the main saloon and dining room, which take advantage of the full 9.6-metre beam, is based on aquamarine and ivory soft furnishings combined with warm wood veneers, natural leathers and full-height windows for exceptional light and panoramic views. The fleet headed upwind towards the south, rounding the islets of Mortorio and Soffi, then came back up under gennaker, through the Bisce pass, with winds that had increased to 16 knots in the meantime. At the mark by the Tre Monti shallows, the superyachts headed for the islet of Monaci, which they rounded before embarking on their upwind return leg to Porto Cervo.
