SYT takes a look at some of the yachts making their debut at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Vilanova i La Geltrú has been announced as the host venue for the first Preliminary Regatta of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/190" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="America's Cup 2024 - 37th America's Cup Barcelona">America’s Cup</a>. The first-ever Preliminary Regatta will take place from 14 until 17 September 2023.Vilanova i La Geltrú is a small city 45 kilometres southwest along the coast from the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/190" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="America's Cup 2024 - 37th America's Cup Barcelona">America’s Cup</a> 37th edition host venue Barcelona. A new industry initiative has been launched by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) that focuses on the impact the yachting industry has on the world’s forests. The initiative encourages clear sustainability goals and open dialogues for more responsible solutions. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/263032/image/large-9840fc3a207fde264c781f549845604d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/263032">“Yachts are an extreme luxury product, but the industry is also an important sector in the innovation of new and greener solutions for the shipbuilding industry in general,” Kristian Jørgensen, technical advisor at FSC Denmark, stated. “We often see innovation in the areas of engine technology, energy efficiency, synthetic fibres, and the direct impact of different materials on the marine environment. But the time has come to pay more attention to the timber that is used.”Timber is a staple resource for the industry, whether that’s teak decking, masts and booms, or interior outfitting – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a yacht that doesn’t make use of the material in some form. The project involved extending the main aft deck and adding a new Jacuzzi to the sundeck. Onboard, the 1,166 GT superyacht can accommodate as many as 12 guests across six staterooms. The modern interior is built to accommodate up to 12 overnight guests in eight luxurious staterooms on the main deck and can carry up to 96 passengers while cruising thanks to <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/bold" target="_blank">Bold’s</a> PYC build specifications.
