Hakvoort Shipyards opens new slipway

The Hakvoort shipyard in Holland has opened a new slipway earlier this month. The new slipway allows the yard to build superyachts of 58 x 10.60 metres. The yard already raised the roof of its main construction shed by two metres in 2009 to build four-deck vessels.

Offering a maximum lift of 1000 tonnes, the slipway allows Hakvoort to build superyachts of 58 x 10.60 metres. This is part of the yardโ€™s strategy to steadily grow in order to build larger yachts.

โ€œWe are now in a position to bid for new 50-metre-plus projects for delivery in early 2014,โ€ says Klaas Hakvoort. โ€œOur yard is highly competitive in this size bracket due to our lean overheads and very high quality levels".
