The renowned Dutch shipyard Heesen has revealed a brand new 56.7-metre superyacht project, the 5700 Aluminium project Akira. Sporting an FDHF type aluminium hull, she will feature exterior lines from the drawing boards of Dutch design studio Omega Architects and interior designs by the London-based studio Harrison Eidsgaard Limited. Frank Laupman from Omega Yachts explained: “We added a touch of aggression by way of sharp angles, but balanced that out with long, elegant lines. The overall effect is the look of a leaping animal. Akira represents balanced elegance, sportiness and heritage in one yacht. We have developed her in an intuitive way, backed up by our long-term relationship with the shipyard.” Photo: Heesen YachtsThe new Heesen 5700 Aluminium yacht has been designed to encompass a philosophy of free-flow living whereby the structural and decorative glass serves to enhance the indoor-outdoor connection with the surrounding elements. Ben Harrison from Harrison Eidsgaard commented: “The whole premise of the design is about the view, with indoor-outdoor living as the primary driver.” Photo: Heesen YachtsLarge wraparound glass windows run throughout the 5700 Aluminium yacht to create open spaces and a serene ambience and floor-to-ceiling windows that open out to the sky lounge. For clients with a particular vision of the interior, the Harrison Eidsgaard team created a versatile model for clients to be able to personalise the feel and design of the 5700 Aluminium yacht at any time during the building process without affecting the programme and delivery schedule. The exterior of the 5700 Aluminium boasts an expansive sundeck with a sidebar, an al fresco dining setup, various sun pads and a Jacuzzi. On the bridge deck aft, guests can dine al fresco under a clear glass balustrade or enjoy the beach club with seating, bar and large swim platform. Powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines, each with 2560kW, the Heesen 5700 Aluminium yacht can reach an impressive top speed of 22 knots. Photo: Heesen Yachts
