SYT iQ: Heesen Yachts' performance on the used yacht sales market

Heesen Yachts is one of the top superyacht builders in the world having built 99 yachts over 30-metres so far. These yachts have a total length of 4,307-metres, an average length of 43.5-metres and an average volume of 416 gross tonnes (GT). Of the 99 30-metre plus Heesen yachts in operation, there are currently 22 yachts for sale on the market, which is 22.2% of the Heesen fleet in operation. Compared to the market average of 23.1% this is slightly lower. The total combined length of these yachts is 977-metres with an average length of 44.4-metres and an average volume of 442GT.

The average price of a yacht on the used Heesen yacht market right now is €15 million. When looking at the price per GT, we can see an average price of €34,000 per GT. Looking just at the yachts that have been built since 2010, which are a total of eight yachts, there is an average price GT of €43,000 per GT.

On average, the 22 Heesen yachts for sale have been on the market for 825 days. On average, these yachts are 14 years old. In the last two years, between two and four used superyachts built by Heesen came on the market. In the past two years, a total of 20 used Heesen yachts were sold, with sales shared equally between 2017 and 2018. For the total used fleet sold in the last two years, this average stood at 563 days.

The 20 Heesen yachts sold in the last two years represented a total value of €220 million in terms of final asking prices. Their average last asking price was €11.7 million per yacht or €28,100 per GT. The largest Heesen yacht sold in this time period was the 49.8-metre Rocket, while the smallest was the 30.7-metre Zabava (previously Pokrov II). With a final asking price of €24,500,000, Rocket was also the highest valued Heesen yacht to be sold, while Zabava had the lowest final asking price at €2,100,000.

One of the most interesting Heesen yachts on the market right now is, of course, the 65-metre Galactica Star. The yacht will be auctioned off in May 2019 with a minimum bid of $42 million required.
