The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (NZ), New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the University of Auckland will host the 4th High Performance Yacht Design Conference from 12 – 14 March 2012 at the Maritime Museum, Viaduct Harbour, Auckland. The conference with coincide with the Volvo Ocean race – Auckland stopover.
The conference is a highly acclaimed technical marine conference with a core focus on the design, analysis, testing and performance of cutting-edge racing and super yachts. The conference brings together an array of international experts and technical review panellists within the marine and yacht design industry.
The 3-day conference includes a series of in-depth marine related papers and presentations spanning a comprehensive range of topics including: sailing yacht aerodynamics in dynamic conditions; performance prediction and measurement; materials and structural analysis; regulations and rating rules; hull and appendage design; sustainable high performance yacht construction; wind tunnel and towing tank technology; and computational methods.
A highlight of the conference will be a public panel discussion hosted by yachting commentator Peter Montgomery on Monday 12 March 7-9pm, Viaduct Events Centre, Latitude lounge Level 3.
