The HISWA Symposium is now entering its 27th edition and this year will be returning to the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="METSTRADE - 2022">METSTRADE</a> in Amsterdam on the 14th and 15th of November. The theme of the year's symposium, which focuses on yacht design and construction, is 'Get Energized', that refers to the energy transition which represents a considerable challenge for the yacht construction sector. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/244495/image/large-882b78af6e4499d64ac61f49d4a64c94.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/244495">In addition to the scientific presentations that define the HISWA events, the focus of the symposium will be the transfer of applied knowledge, to share pioneering research currently being conducted within the yachting sector. The symposium is an initiative by HISWA-RECRON, the trade association for watersport and recreation, together with TU Delft, RAI Amsterdam and the MARIN research Institute.Michaël Steenhoff, Manager of Yacht Building at HISWA-RECRON, explains, "Just like the previous edition in 2020 the programme consists of a mix of presentations of scientific research and its practical applications. So the focus will be on both aspects. The aim of the HISWA Symposium is to bring together the worlds of research and practice, to share knowledge and by doing so accelerate innovation. That's something we urgently need if we want to meet climate targets and drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions."&nbsp;The participation of students is extremely important and a discount is available to students from senior secondary vocational education to university level. It is important to bring them into contact with companies that are active in yacht construction or design so that they can find out about developments they may be able to contribute to, if they choose a career in yacht construction. TU Delft students are also going to give a presentation about a flying hydrogen boat.
