What can we expect over the next few years in terms of newbuild sales and deliveries?&nbsp;In this feature, we take a closer look at future newbuild sales and deliveries set to hit the market over the next few years. We have already notched up 144 newbuild sales during 2018 and we believe there is still more to come, especially from yards starting newbuilds on speculation in semi-series production. &nbsp;A year-end figure of around 160 newbuild sales is achievable in our opinion. But for the next coming year, a lot depends on the continued strong performance of the US economy, a continued upturn in commodity prices and the willingness of the newly rich from Asia to step into superyacht ownership.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/41236/image/large-57ed185f6adb00cc48f59e4c56323354.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/41236">At the Monaco Yacht Show in September, the mood was positive, although we feel that we should not speak of a “boom”, as the numbers do not point in that direction. If anything, it looks more like the market is stabilising after a few difficult years. However, we do feel that an average number of 150 newbuild sales per year until the end of 2020 is achievable. Yards will have to continue to fight for every sale though, and pull out all the stops to convince customers from a group of prospective buyers that is becoming younger, more Asian and more female.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/37027/image/large-097636d2e98920c93f1628e3fc4bef25.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/37027">In terms of deliveries, we would expect 2018 to end above the 2017 total of 147 yachts. At the time of writing, 137 yachts have already been delivered during 2018, with another 68 still slated for 2018 delivery. However, a significant part of those 68 yachts will be delayed until 2019. We have already counted 296 yachts slated for delivery in 2019 and 2020, excluding delayed newbuilds from 2018 and possible further newbuild sales with deliveries in 2019 or 2020. We also see that yards are investing in new facilities and building of yachts on speculation, so the supply of yachts will continue to grow in the next few years. The combined company enhances the scale and scope to continue to drive growth in the increasingly dynamic and competitive satellite communications industry. The cash portion of the purchase price was reduced from $850 million to $551 million after Inmarsat paid a $299 million special dividend to its shareholders in April 2022. The shares issued to the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4064" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Inmarsat plc (Company)">Inmarsat</a> shareholders at the closing represent an aggregate of approximately 37.6 percent of the total shares of Viasat common stock on a fully diluted basis, with no Inmarsat shareholder receiving shares representing 10% or more. In connection with closing of the acquisition on May 30, 2023, Viasat drew down on approximately $1.35 billion of its committed financing package, including a $617 million secured term loan facility and a $733 million unsecured bridge loan. The lower financed amount reflects in part the reduction in the cash component of the purchase price.

The French electrical and electromechanical services company <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7171" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yachtelec (Company)">Yachtelec</a> has been acquired by the ship repair and maintenance group AMARIX, the owner of MACOR and ETI Services companies. Palumbo SuperYachts has announced that they will expand the company's commitment to sustainability in yachting with more sustainable measures.

Turkey-based shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4644" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="AKYACHT (Company)">AKYACHT</a> has announced that they have signed a contract for a new 100 plus-metre superyacht.
