Interior proposal for 74m Austin Explorer concept

Kathrin Haak of Studio Haak has send us more information about her interior proposal for the 74 metre Austin Explorer concept, designed by Fuhrmann & Ochoa Hamburg/Miami. When imagining a yacht, it is clear that yachts are always strongly associated with nature”, Kathrin explains.

Whether looking out of a yacht window or gazing at yachts in a port, there is always water, the sky or the coast in the background. Consequently, nature’s elements of water, wind and natural materials lie very close to our heart and and this is reflected in our relaxing and peaceful interiors. The Austin interior is a perfect example of nature’s colours and textures: shades of blue and pine-green are inspired by water, wind, clouds and the countryside.”

The yacht’s main salon has been designed to be used for a variety of purposes, as it is divided into several sections. The fireplace with integrated library and cinema is an area for relaxation. Movable furniture and interior features mean that the user can alter the size of library and cinema according to individual taste and space requirements.

The chairs and table for the rotating floor in the main salon were designed especially for the Austin concept, with sofa's upholstered in exclusive cream-white and gold- -bronze snake skin.

The table and chairs can be used for meetings or lounging due to the adjustable height and width. The rotating floor’s rear wall, made of flame birch with a shimmering mother of pearl effect, reinforces the room’s luxurious character”, Kathrin explains.

The owner’s suite with its imposing King size bed, along with the main lounge, is the most important section of the owner’s deck.

The bed is afforded a special status because the owner identifies most closely with the interior design of the owner’s suite. We have developed a Logo concept for the yacht, and this logo is integrated at the rear of the bed. Upon entering the suite, the eye-catching logo shimmers gently to provide an unusual reception. A writing desk and couch are placed to the right and left respectively of the owner’s suite entrance. Warm, earthy colours are used for the room interior, so that attention is not drawn away from the bed in the centre of the room. The colour palette of the owner’s suite blends into colours used for the the adjacent spa area, which also incorporates colours from the owner’s suite”.
