Following the news announced last September regarding the winter refit of the 55.17 metre superyacht Lady A (ex. Southern Cross III; Emihar Chios; Indian Princess) at Burgess Marine, the British studio Design Unlimited has announced they have been appointed to undertake her interior design.

	Major changes to her interior include the complete redesign of her lower guest and owner’s accommodation. The owner’s suite will be extended using the space from a previous guest cabin, allowing the owner to fully enjoy a huge stateroom and an impressive study. On the upper deck there will be a new double cabin and en-suite bathroom. Both forward and aft saloons are also being re-configured to accommodate the owners wish to create a less formal, calm, comfortable use of the space and the dining area is also undergoing a complete refurbishment.

	Design Unlimited state that Lady A’s new interior decoration will have a sense of glamour and luxury with detailed, textured fabrics which create a calm and comfortable ambience. The colour palette is harmonious, utilising different colour schemes for each area yet creating a continuous theme.  
	 
	Mark Tucker, CEO of Design Unlimited comments: “This yacht is going to be brought completely up to date and will be given a new lease of life. The new interior will offer the owner and his family a wonderful base for extended family holidays aboard and we are delighted to be working on this exciting British based project.”

Other planned works include minor structural, mechanical and electrical modifications, and the installation of new Naiad stabilisers. In addition to the modifications and improvements to her interior from Design Unlimited, she will also receive a new exterior paint scheme. 
	 
	The project is being directly managed by the Owners Team with Burgess Marine acting as the primary contractor in partnership with Shemara Refit. Design and naval architecture support is being provided by Houlder.

On deck, new teak was laid across most exterior areas. Key running gear was serviced and overhauled, including steering, shafts, bow thruster and rudders. For owner Paul Andrews, the search for the right yacht was a journey that spanned more than a decade. The quality of teak craftsmanship in Thailand is also exceptional and the cost of skilled labour is significantly lower than in many other parts of the world. By chance I also discovered a local boat carpenter whose family had been building boats in the region for generations.
