Following the success of its first international conference the Isle of Man Yacht Forum has announced the appointment of new officers who will stand for a two year period before new elections are called.
The new officers are:
• Robert Tobin – Chairman (Dohle Private Clients)
• Ben Hextall – Vice Chairman (Oceanweb)
• Mike Dean – Marketing & Events (Equiom)
• Mike King – Treasurer (Lombard Manx)
• Lisa Osland – Secretary (Abacus)
Commented Chairman Rob Tobin: “This past year has been momentous for the Forum. In addition to continued presence at the major shows and conferences by members of the Forum, we held our first international conference in London. This conference, which was attended by over 150 industry professionals, was organised by the Forum’s marketing team in conjunction with the Manx Business Connection. The event was sponsored by Barclays Wealth who provided their state of the art facilities in Canary Wharf and hosted a dinner for the speakers the night before the conference. The facilities and services were greatly admired by all those attending and played a great part in ensuring the success of the conference for which the Forum recorded a vote of thanks at their post conference review meeting. In addition, the Forum expressed their gratitude for all the support received from the Isle of Man Department of Trade and Industry.
“The conference resulted in considerable publicity for the Island and its services to the superyacht industry and we are now planning future events for the Forum.
“In addition to marketing and publicity successes, the Forum’s sub-committees have also been very active, especially the tax and VAT and flagging committees.”
Concluded Mr Tobin: “The Forum, from its early beginnings five years ago, has now become a significant force in the superyachting industry and has promoted the Island as a centre of excellence to a global audience. It is our intention to continue to expand this awareness and appreciation of the professional services in which the Island excels.”
