Itasca anchored off Palm Island

Superyacht Itasca in Dubai

Spotted recently anchored off one of the Palm Islands on the coast of Dubai is the 53.55 metre displacement motor yacht Itasca (ex. Thames III; Smit Thames; Caribische Zee). Built by the Dutch shipyard J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven in 1961, her naval architecture and exterior design were completed in-house. She was converted to the luxury superyacht we see her as today in 1980.

Constructed with a steel hull and superstructure, she is Lloyds Registered and accommodates up to 10 guests on board as well as a crew of up to 12. Performance wise, she is powered by twin Smit Man RABL-459 1,250 hp engines, giving her a maximum speed of 12 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. She boasts a range of 16,000 nm in total.
