Superyacht Itasca in Dubai
Spotted recently anchored off one of the Palm Islands on the coast of Dubai is the 53.55 metre displacement motor yacht Itasca (ex. Thames III; Smit Thames; Caribische Zee). Built by the Dutch shipyard J. & K. Smits Scheepswerven in 1961, her naval architecture and exterior design were completed in-house. She was converted to the luxury superyacht we see her as today in 1980.
Constructed with a steel hull and superstructure, she is Lloyds Registered and accommodates up to 10 guests on board as well as a crew of up to 12. Performance wise, she is powered by twin Smit Man RABL-459 1,250 hp engines, giving her a maximum speed of 12 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. She boasts a range of 16,000 nm in total.
