J Craft had sold its first boat at the 2010 Monaco yacht show within 24 hours of the event opening. The brand new, fully specified Torpedo is destined for the USA. Production will begin shortly at the Swedish firms manufacturing facility on the island of Gotland. The boat will be delivered to its new owner early in 2011.
Speaking at the show, J Craft’s Johan Attvik said, “Monaco is a fantastic event and even before the doors opened we knew that this was going to be a great show for J Craft. Interest in the Torpedo has been growing over the summer and we’ve been talking to a number of potential buyers on the run up to the show. The new Torpedo R has boosted this interest further and we expect this to continue into next year.”
Attvik continued, “It’s a great way to end a day, enjoying a glass of champagne with a new owner and friend of the brand.”
J Craft has built just eight Torpedo’s this year but is planning to increase worldwide production in 2011 to between 12-16 hulls. The brand has enjoyed strong sales over the summer and is now looking to grow a global dealer network. The sale of its first boat to the USA precedes a broader expansion into the American market by J Craft next year.
