Exclusive first look at the 83m superyacht concept Dust by Jay Aberdoni

Jay Aberdoni has unveiled the renderings for his new elegant 83-metre superyacht concept, Dust. The dynamic design is sculpted from ‘fearless shapes’ and silhouettes and is the second independently designed yacht by the Spain-based designer.Dust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniThe superyacht Dust is characterised by her sleek exterior design with long flowing lines from bow to stern that highlight her streamlined profile. Jay Aberdoni describes this silhouette as ‘stardust behind a comet’ as she leaves a trail of desire wherever she wishes to go.

Jay Aberdoni is no stranger to yacht design and has been in the industry for around ten years working with some of the biggest names in the industry. His style takes inspiration from architecture and automotives to create clean flowing reflections in all his work.Dust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniDust is undeniably a sporty looking superyacht,” says designer Jay Aberdoni. “She uses a mix of styles which could be found in sports cars, with a touch of inspiration coming from architecture and the gentle, elegant surfaces that you could see in porcelain pieces of art.”

All of Aberdoni’s concepts share the same philosophy of design, and more importantly the same soul. While both his 72-metre concept Posterity, and the 83-metre Dust, both have low bulwarks and an extensive use of glass; they have very different personalities. She also has one more deck than Posterity which is dedicated to the wheelhouse.”

There is a constant connection between her indoor and outdoor spaces with low glass bulwarks that provide unparalleled views throughout. Her wheelhouse has also been cleverly disguised with an inclined windscreen, much like a sports car, to blend with her superstructure. This unique characteristic creates the look of continuity with reflections and shadows. It is obvious how important attention to detail is for Jay Aberdoni when you examine her exterior design. The typical domes in the mast have been replaced with flat panel satellite antennas integrated into the superstructure. This feature avoids the large mast structure usually seen on yachts and gives her a much sleeker appearance.Dust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniDust’s interior is also one to marvel at, with Aberdoni exceeding expectations once again. The entrance to Dust leads to a spiral staircase with a curved LED screen serving as a backdrop. The images displayed are in line with the rest of her interior to create a calm and relaxing mood for guests onboard.

Her staircase is located in the centre of her overhanging balcony that seamlessly connects to her main deck, saloon, beach club and terrace to give the illusion of double height ceilings. Her interior as a whole has been designed around the theme of Zen, with a simple and minimalistic approach and neutral, natural colours.Dust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniDust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniThe forward-looking saloon of Dust is surrounded by sliding glass doors to optimise the space and extend the views. This gives guests the option of lounging in an open terrace with direct access to the sun or an enclosed refreshing saloon when shade is required.

Dust is able to host up to 16 guests across eight luxurious staterooms, seven of which are located on the main deck with direct access to the main saloon. Her master suite is situated on the upper deck and dedicated to the owner with walk in wardrobes, an office and a private lounge. The aft terrace of the upper deck is only accessible from the owner’s suite with cul-de-sac corridors to ensure ultimate privacy. She features an impressive 350 square-metre beach club that is able to cater to almost any occasion. The space includes a firepit with direct access to the sea as well as a bar, social area and space to sunbathe. For those looking for some adventure, Dust also includes a garage with storage for a limousine tender, Jet Skis and an 8-metre tender.Dust yacht concept by Jay AberdoniPhoto: Jay AberdoniAlthough this is only his second design, Dust proudly displays a pirate flag at her stern, a key characteristic that defines a yacht designed by Jay Aberdoni. “I adopted it a long time ago as a subtle signature that is always present in my work! That will always be one way to know a yacht is designed by me!”
