According to the designers, the concept was conceived as a purpose-built world cruise cruiser capable of supporting extended voyages while accommodating a range of owner lifestyles.A key feature of the project is the availability of three distinct configurations built on a common platform.The Fisherman version is focused on a generous open aft deck designed to accommodate a substantial tender and a selection of water toys, without needing a dedicated chase boat. When it comes to explorer yachts, the amount of space those items take is very large, and could be replaced to provide extra living areas and more comfort to the guests” said designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6653" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jay Aberdoni Yacht Design (Company)">Jay Aberdoni</a>.<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Xma6gbqtrBw?&amp;wmode=opaque" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe>The yacht Prelude draws upon a rare mix between the proportions of a research vessel, with the minimalist and elegant lines of a superyacht. The helipad is also multi-purpose and can be transformed into a lounge area once the helicopter has left the yacht.The lounge area offers the perfect spot for entertaining, thanks to the stunning flower-inspired twisting fire pit that takes centre stage. Her wheelhouse has also been cleverly disguised with an inclined windscreen, much like a sports car, to blend with her superstructure. The typical domes in the mast have been replaced with flat panel satellite antennas integrated into the superstructure. Minimalism is a must for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6653" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jay Aberdoni Yacht Design (Company)">Aberdoni</a>, “I prefer few lines, to keep the design simple in profile, and complex surfaces to give three dimensionality to the design. I enjoy playing with shadows and reflections rather than paint and flat faces.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219755/image/large-7b5b8cc4c24a2516cc2aabb209fb2a66.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219755"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219756/image/large-fc8e986f63e5331004a4a02a94f2415b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219756"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6653" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jay Aberdoni Yacht Design (Company)">Aberdoni</a>, who has been in the yachting industry for around ten years, started working with British studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6424" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ker Yacht Design (Company)">Ker Yacht Design and Engineering</a> before joining <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lobanov Design (Company)">Lobanov Design</a> in Barcelona. His more recent ventures have been with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3025" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Alberto Mancini Yacht Design (Company)">Alberto Mancini Yacht Design</a>, in Monaco.“There is always a lot of talk about how to approach the design of a yacht, as if it was a house or a vehicle. The truth is that a yacht, literally, is both. When I design a yacht, I take a lot of inspiration from architecture. I try to come up with beautiful areas that define the interior space. When it comes to the exterior, I treat the surfacing with the same care as they do in the car design industry, playing with twisting shapes, creating nice and flowing reflections.”The 72-metre concept avoids a hardtop in order to maintain her low minimal profile whilst still being able to escape the sun. Posterity features an electronically deployed arched shade that slides through the rails and into the teak and can extend as far as the guests would like.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219763/image/large-72473ab6764fc454d331270613497567.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219763">Posterity breathes open air, and the owner can enjoy it too with a private terrace, furnished with tasteful Minotti furniture. The resting area, like much of the innovative yacht, is surrounded by full height sliding glass windows that give the opportunity to create a grand open space. But the key feature of this yacht is the observation library, a curved glass encased room located alongside the saloon. This room is undoubtedly the most special place on the yacht, as you look up at the cascading lights that are reminiscent of raining stars. Fold-down side doors in the beach club and a drop-down transom create a floating resort vibe with a sea breeze. The furniture is kept to a minimum in this space, with only sofas, a coffee table and sun loungers to distract from the wide vistas.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219758/image/large-86a10350ee983205d8bace372ca830d9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219758"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219762/image/large-b184b404e1f166fb779896de4dc806d0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219762">The lower deck also includes a gym, sauna and tender garage, where toys and tenders are easily deployed via side hatches. Guests also board the yacht via side doors, with lobbies on the lower and main deck. The upper deck is divided between the owner’s suite aft and the bridge forward. Glass panels in the library, main saloon and owner’s suite fully retract to create vast open spaces or remain closed for a quiet and air-conditioned environment.“The design of Posterity is the result of piecing together my years in yacht design, where I have experienced different approaches for developing a project. I thought of it as a way to say ‘hello’ to the industry, and what a better way to do so than designing a yacht that represents who I am as a designer.” says <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6653" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jay Aberdoni Yacht Design (Company)">Jay Aberdoni</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/219761/image/large-3b07b9811066492c481d4015304e869b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/219761">Posterity features an infinity pool on the sun deck, surrounded by teak decks that merge into the bottom of the pool, darkening the depth, and turning into a stunning turquoise pattern. A second pool is located on the sun deck and the aft deck provides sun protection and access to the water.Posterity features less decks than other yachts her size. The bridge deck and owner’s deck, which contains an office, private lounge, bedroom and ensuite that leads out to a private terrace, are merged to create a low volume, tri-deck yacht with a slimline profile. Aberdoni’s absence of a hard top also creates an open effect by leaving the sky in plain view.“I enjoy minimalism and peaceful shapes. I like Interior spaces that connect with outdoor areas and unblocked views to the sea. She proudly displays a pirate flag at her stern, a key characteristic in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6653" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jay Aberdoni Yacht Design (Company)">Aberdoni</a>’s designs. “I adopted it a long time ago as a subtle signature that is always present in my work! From now on, that will be one way to know a yacht is designed by me!”
