The Damen Yachting team has announced the laying of the keel of the Amels 8001 Limited Editions superyacht.

German builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5961" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Alva Yachts (Company)">ALVA Yachts</a> has unveiled the first renderings for a new 23.7-metre Ocean Eco 78 multihull yacht. The advanced electric yacht will join the shipyard’s growing fleet, which includes the flagship 27.5-metre Ocean Eco 90.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/262793/image/large-ef2c87a0179b87414e8e15bf59833033.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/262793">Designed with luxury and performance in mind, the Ocean Eco 78 catamaran boasts the latest technology developments with integrated solar panels and a fully-electric drive. After selling the firm to First Niagara Financial Group, Rob was appointed as the company’s Senior Vice President, where he guided the Insurance Division with over $600,000,000 in annual sales. He also founded Lama Commercial Real Estate, where he negotiated site acquisitions for a number of large American retailers, including Walmart, CVS, and Rite Aid. During this time, Lama owned a yacht in Miami for his entire family to enjoy.&nbsp;After moving to Miami, Lama combined his love of yachting with his business acumen, establishing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5135" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Miami International Yacht Sales LLC. (Company)">Miami International Yacht Sale</a>. Lama’s business and negotiation experience enabled him to find his niche in the sale of vessels over 30-metres. He now joins <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a> in 2023 after many years of successfully running his own yacht brokerage firm. Rose Damen commented that at least one vessel will be built per year to continue the development of the series' design. The multi purpose foredeck can land a helicopter up to four tonnes and we've got all the toys and tenders stored below, accessed via hydraulic doors, these doors open up and the tenders can be launched out of the yacht smoothly, which is often a challenge on many boats. Six additional staterooms are located on the main deck offering uniquely bright light interiors and excellent sea views. The aft of the vessel is the main feature of the superyacht, with tiered decks each offering a unique opportunity to enjoy life on the water. The large pool on the main deck features glazing that floods her beach club below with light. The beach club also has openings on the sides, with balconies on each. Paul Costerus, Partner at the studio commented, "There are a lot of areas of the yacht that I am passionate about about; one of them in particular is the beach club. This area is located close to the water and it features a round social sofa setup connected to a bar area in the centre of the space. It's absolutely perfect for social gatherings with your friends, after drinks at the bar to play around with your kids and at night it can be converted to a full size cinema. The first <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/18" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Amels (Company)">Amels</a> 80 Limited Editions superyacht is now in-build with the steel cutting having got underway at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1821" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Damen Yachting (Company)">Damen Yachting</a> hull building facility in Galati.
