Kelly Yachts, responsible for the naval architecture, and UKI Design, responsible for the exterior and interior styling, recently developed a new 150ft super-sloop, the U.K. 150. The superyacht will be one of the largest sloops in the world and incorporates the latest technologies and design features. The concept harmonises the feeling of a powerful and reactive sailing boat with the perfect melting between design and technics, beauty and function.
The hull is designed to be produced in pre-preg carbon fibre and has a displacement of 135 tons. The lifting keel system and double rudders allow the superyacht to anchor in shallow waters.
The precise and clean lines show the sporting and cruising character of the yacht. The wide windows of the deckhouse contribute to keeping a continuous and direct connection between the exterior and interior. A large door leads from the external guest area to the living room.
The external and internal lay-outs are inspired by a concept of maximum flexibility, thus giving the best customer solutions. Three basic models are available; central owner’s cabin, aft owner’s cabin and forward owner’s cabin.
These three models offer the customer a great number of choices: from the personalisation of the yacht – through moving the owner on the deckhouse – to a model adapted to the charter market, thus giving more attention to the public spaces and a more classical lay-out and crew quarters.
