Yacht design studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7141" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Turbulence Design (Company)">Turbulence Design</a> has unveiled renderings for a new 75-metre superyacht concept, Lang-Ching or 朗清舸. According to the Germany/China-based studio Lang-Ching is a bold combination of traditional Chinese aesthetics and modern yacht design ideas. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/269238/image/large-28e699dd7fb4cbf7e582fd30c8d39b59.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/269238">“The name Lang-Ching, Chinese written as 朗清舸, comes from a piece of well-known Chinese calligraphy work Lantingji Xu (兰亭集序/"Orchid Pavilion Preface"), which was written in the fourth century AD about a elegant party with celebrities. Moreover, an owner’s suite can be found on the main deck and is complete with both a private office and spacious walk-in closet. Rather than build to a governed length, I let the length reveal itself after the spaces were established.”“The idyllic exterior proportions are meant to disguise the wide-beam high-volume shape with a timeless silhouette that also exudes a fresh, modern feel,” <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7538" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Christian Oliver Design (Company)">Christian Oliver</a> continued. “The highly sculpted hull surfaces have a teardrop shape inspired by classic runabouts.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/331712/image/large-aacab9461b4a19519e06168010b91637.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/331712">One of Concept Fifty-Nine’s most notable traits is her generous aft beach club, with a 1.2-metre deep pool that has the option to be heated up. The pool is situated close to the water level, so that guests can immerse themselves in the surrounding seascape. Meanwhile, the port and starboard integrated seating in the side hulls, bustles for those onboard to unwind.&nbsp;From here, the aft door leads to a vast beach club with a bar at the forward end of the pool, creating a ‘swim-up’ effect. The beach club is also decked out with a fitness area, dayhead, and changing room. The cutting edge concept is developed to optimise charter revenue by including the most highly requested amenities of yachts with success in the charter market. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/331126/image/large-a51c0e19c02d22ca58653928e29c19ad.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/331126">Head of Charter Management at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2220" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hill Robinson (Company)">Hill Robinson</a> Nicolas Fry seized the opportunity to craft a design that places charter at the forefront, which can cover both running costs and generate revenue for the owner. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/331125/image/large-0f860304f48f1ee407673d1fc30e1020.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/331125">“We gathered precious insight from brokers, Captains, and clients about their perception of the perfect charter yacht and composed an extensive brief for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1218" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dölker + Voges GmbH (Company)">Dölker + Voges</a> that enabled Isabella Knappe to create a beautiful design centred on charter,” Fry explained. “Building the Perfect Charter Yacht with the right shipyard will drive the clients who are interested in renting it, the price competitiveness, and maintenance costs.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/331127/image/large-3695885ec0fd3d2bfb618241059cb781.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/331127">One example of a charter-oriented feature onboard the yacht is the flexible cabin arrangement. The Perfect Charter Yacht’s six staterooms can be joined in pairs to form three spacious VIP suites, complete with lounge areas. Moreover, sliding doors either divide or unite the suites, making the spaces ideal for families chartering with children in adjacent staterooms.&nbsp;Outside, the vessel’s multi-level aft terraces allow guests to take in the scenery, while a swimming pool, sun loungers, and alfresco dining area allow for outdoor activities. From an outside perspective, Volare's&nbsp;exterior silhouette is composed of dark and light glass, with glass wind protection shielding those onboard from the natural elements. Renaming her Cleopatra’s Barge II, he painted her black with a white boot-top and a gilded stripe, inspired by the original Cleopatra’s Barge of 1816, which was owned by his family and reportedly “America’s first yacht.”&nbsp;Francis and his wife, Louise Evelina duPont Crowninshield, sailed aboard Cleopatra’s Barge II&nbsp;until 1942 when she was acquired by the US Navy for coastal patrol during the war. She remained in Boston until 1950 when she was registered in the 1950 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd's Register</a> of American Yachts, as Evening Star by John P. Hazzard, from Morehead City, North Carolina. During this period, she received a new diesel engine, a Bermudan staysail rig, and new sails.By 1955, she was renamed Guinevere and registered in the 1955 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd's Register</a> Of Yachts, as in New York, under Mrs Edgar Palmer. The boat reached Monaco in the autumn, where she underwent another quick refit that was to last till summer 1976.In 1979, Italian publisher and film producer Alberto Rizzoli purchased and renamed the yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1190" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mariette 42.06m (137'12&quot;)Herreshoff1916">Mariette</a> again. This also marked the start of her restoration journey at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4793" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantieri Navali Beconcini (Company)">Beconcini</a> shipyard in La Spezia, Italy. Six years later, she was sold to American Thomas J. Perkins by Mike Horsley of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a>; and upon finding another vessel already registered as Mariette, he renamed her Mariette of 1915. Perkins appointed Tom Eaton as skipper, who convinced his owner to restore the boat to her original topsail gaff schooner rig.&nbsp;The original plans and data of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1190" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mariette 42.06m (137'12&quot;)Herreshoff1916">Mariette</a> were obtained from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where Nathanael Greene Herreshoff’s archives are held. Using these plans, her rig was constructed by legendary rigger Harry Spencer of Cowes and installed at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4793" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantieri Navali Beconcini (Company)">Beconcini</a> yard in Italy. In spring 1995 her hull was repaired again, as well as modifications made to her deck, with her wheel placed into a sunken cockpit. She returned for minor works in spring 2012, &nbsp;ahead of the Pendennis Cup. In autumn 2017, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1190" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mariette 42.06m (137'12&quot;)Herreshoff1916">Mariette</a> returned to Falmouth for a more extensive refit, in partnership with her crew.
