2 Direct sales, 4 new CAs for sale, 1 new charter CA, a charity donation & a race car!
Acting on behalf of the buyer, Ocean Independence CEO Peter Hürzeler has sold yet another impressive vessel. The 50m Oceanco Altavida, designed by Gerhard Gilgenast and with a Don Starkey interior to accommodate 12 guests, was built in 1993 and substantially refitted in 2005.
Having been in the spotlight last year when Pamela Anderson married Kid Rock on board near St Tropez, now with her new name, Anedigmi will be under the care of Ocean Management and will join the ever-growing Ocean Independence charter fleet.
Following this, OCI Palma’s Marc Haendle successfully sold the smart and sleek 31m SY Psyrax to a direct client. This 2005 Van Dam Nordia motor-sailer accommodates 7 guests in 4 roomy cabins and her sale brings the total tally of OCI sales for 2007 to a whopping twelve, ten of which have been to direct clients.
New CAs for Sale
Ocean Independence has also signed 4 notable new CAs for sale. The first in this flurry of yachts was the exciting 31m MY C’est La Vie, a 2003 Kaiser Werft with accommodation for 8 guests and capable of speeds of up to 23 knots, signed by Bjorn Vang Mathisen of OCI Geneva. Then came the superb 27m custom-made Turkish motor-sailer, SY AWOL Again, built in 2004, blending a traditional look with state of the art equipment and a modern contemporary interior. SY AWOL Again accommodates 8 guests and 5 crew and was signed by Jim Acher of OCI Palma in collaboration with her charter CA broker, Tim Clark at OCI UK.
The next yacht in this series, the racy 26m Maiora MY Barracuda, was signed by Marc Haendle of OCI Palma. Delivered in 2001, she accommodates 8-9 guests and 2 crew in meticulously maintained and tasteful surroundings. And finally, a great OCI Palma sales team effort by Jim Acher and Marc Haendle secured the ultra high-performance powerboat MY Anoud Al Doha (photo). Built in 1999 by Guy Couach, the 28m MY Anoud Al Doha accommodates 6 guests in luxurious interiors and can reach speeds of up to 45 knots!
New CAs for Charter
With the summer charter season well underway we are pleased to welcome SV Liarato the OCI charter fleet, brought into the fold by Düsseldorf-based Charter Director, Adelheid Chirco. Built in 2002, this carefully finished 20m Southern Ocean Marine is perfect for family holidays and romantic cruises, accommodating up to 4 adults and 2 children (on request). With a great charter track record, her attentive crew will ensure a fun, relaxing and unforgettable time aboard.
In other news Ocean Independence marked the 2nd anniversary of their 2005 merger by showing their appreciation to the environment that the yachting industry derives so much pleasure from, with a generous donation to The Global Coral Reef Alliance. Founded in 1990, this non-profit organisation is dedicated to growing, protecting and managing coral reefs worldwide. Meanwhile Ocean Independence Racing hit the road this month when Fort Lauderdale broker Chris Rimmer, his brother Mike and friend Llynden Reithmuller competed in the German Nurburgring 24hr race with a brand new Subaru Impreza. Having won their class at the last VLN 4hr race, the team were confident of a good result, and despite heavy rain and a very challenging course, they came second in their class and 85th overall. The team will be competing in three more races this year.
