During the first day of the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show, Benetti has unveiled a new range of superyachts developed together with designers Stefano Natucci and Redman Whiteley Dixon. The range will consist of four models all over 50 metres in length, including a 50-metre, 58.6-metre, 65-metre, and a 73-metre design. The yachts are to be built from steel and aluminium at Benetti’s Livorno shipyard.
The new line forms part of the Italian shipyard’s ‘Smart-Designed Custom Series’ – a new approach by Benetti to offer a customisable, ready-to-use, superyacht that is available in the shortest possible time. The new business model offers advantages both in terms of time and money for both the shipyard and the client. To achieve this, Benetti will use pre-engineered hulls on which it will place a pre-designed project with a certain amount of costomisation presented to the owner to suit his/her requirements.
Natucci gives insight into the concept behind his exterior designs: “The style is clean and straightforward. I always work to obtain compactness, flowing lines and the right distribution of volumes. If the empty spaces are in the right places, the boat is beautiful. I love to change, but if I had to design these four boats again, I’d do it the exact same way”.
Two hulls are scheduled to begin construction within the next few months: the 50-metre model, which is designed to be below 500 GT, along with the 65-metre model in the line.
