Benetti has teamed up with acclaimed designer Fernando Romero on a fresh new project that was unveiled last night ahead of the opening day of the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show. Called Se77antesette (seventy-seven in Italian), the concept is a break away from the usual Benetti style and is described by the yard as ‘innovative’ and ‘revolutionary’ and draws inspiration from the natural marine environment.
To create an even smoother exterior surface together with the design’s flowing lines, Benetti has worked with aerospace engineers to devise a solution to hide all sat-com units that would typically be visible on the mast, inside a glass dome structure. This gives the yacht a sleek look without compromising safety or entertainment on board.
With such a radical exterior, it is no surprise to find that the interior has also been turned on its head. The adaptable spaces are all connected to the exterior through either huge glass panels or open balconies and terraces. At the centre of the ship is a two-storey atrium that creates a grand entrance and becomes the heart of all entertainment on board.
An observatory deck at the very top of the yacht provides a 360-degree view over the yacht’s surroundings and will become one of the most popular spots on board with its 8.5-metre-long glass panels that have been tested to withstand all types of stresses associated with this part of the vessel.
A diesel-electric propulsion system with five variable speed generators and a single C18 CAT engine will drive the ship and serve as the power management plant of the yacht. A top speed of 19 knots is predicted and will be good to reach 5,000 nm at 12 knots.
