At the Qatar International Boat Show, we asked Sanlorenzo Middle East's president Dr. Riccardo Tumbiolo 4 questions about the Middle Eastern Market potential for Sanlorenzo.
How important is the Middle Eastern market for Sanlorenzo?
”Sanlorenzo is doing extremely well here in the Middle East. We have recently delivered 41m Alloy to the royal family in Dubai, a fantastic aluminium yacht”.
How do you see the market develop here in Qatar?
”The market in Qatar is extremely promising. Of course Qatar is well known as one of the richest countries in the world in terms of pro capital. Sanlorenzo builds a limited number of yachts per year, that are all custom-made, made to measure as we all it. This is the kind of product that will suit the Qatari clienst very well”.
Which segment has the biggest potential?
”In number of units, the smaller size boats have great potential. However, there is also a potential market for the larger size yachts, let’s say between 30m and 40m, which of course is the segment in which Sanlorenzo is a world-wide leader, since we have the third shipyard in the world for the production of the yachts above 24m”.
What are the latest developments at Sanlorenzo?
”We have a wide range of yachts, starting from 60/70 feet, all the way up to our superyacht range with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, from 46 to 60 metres. We have several new models, for different segments. We will be launching a 118 planning -hull fiberglass".
"We are going to present a 110 semi-displacement again in fiberglass, and for clients that are looking for an active ocean going yacht, we are going to build an explorer type of yacht in steel and aluminium in the 42m range. That model is designed for a client looking to spend many days at sea, in full autonomy, long range, lots of facilities on board, storage, lots of toys of board, and the latest solutions with terms of design, and equipment”.
