Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta returns to Sardinia this week

The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2021, beginning tomorrow, is set to be the first superyacht regatta of the Mediterranean superyacht season, with 16 yachts set to participate, and nine yachts set to compete. The team at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, who have organised the event in collaboration with DYT Superyacht Transport, Southern Wind and Pantaenius and the title sponsor Loro Piana, are extremely excited to be presenting the event in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. Over the course of this week, SuperYacht Times will be reporting an exclusive insight of the event, with daily roundups, interviews with captains and owners and stories from the water. There will also be a multihull division, with four competing yachts, the first of its kind at the historic regatta.2019 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta Photo: Studio Borlenghi With courses set between the turquoise coasts of La Maddalena Island and La Costa Smeralda, crews are set for a competitive week of racing. With yachts such as McConaghy Boats 30.48-metre Leopard 3, Southern Wind’s 28.6-metre Aragon and Nautor’s Swan’s 35-metre Shamanna, among many others, viewers can expect an exciting week on the water. 2019 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta Photo: Studio BorlenghiTo ensure the safety of all crew and visitors during the week, the regatta will take place in compliance with Covid-19 safety protocols issued by the Italian government, the region of Sardinia and the Italian Sailing Federation in addition to the supplementary procedures that the YCCS has developed.
