In a recent agreement between German yacht builder Lürssen and leading superyacht refit centre, MB92, the two companies will be jointly managing the newly refurbished ‘Great Dry Dock’ at the La Ciotat facility. This comes after Lürssen acquired Blohm + Voss in October last year, who was selected as the preferred tenant of the facility based on their local development strategy.
The new development will involve a joint venture that builds on the existing relationship between Lürrsen and MB92, who are currently responsible for the servicing of many yachts in the Lürssen fleet operating in the Mediterranean. In addition, MB92 will be likely to transfer much of its order book to the La Ciotat facility.
Blohm + Voss La Ciotat still remains very much at the centre of all operations as Jean-Yves Saussol, CEO of SEMIDEP-Ciotat explains: “We are very confident in the long-term development of Blohm + Voss La Ciotat, as the company is addressing a strategic and ever-growing segment of the value chain within our industry by developing yacht refit services within the closest proximity to usual customer routes.”
The dry dock in question will by officially inaugurated on 3rd April 2017.
