Walt Schulz, the internationally acclaimed yacht designer and builder of the blue-water Shannons since 1975, announces his return to the mega yacht auxiliary industry with the introduction of his latest line of yachts: custom and semi-custom tenders and launches.
Based on Shannon’s 30+ years of high-quality boatbuilding experience, the semi-custom Shannon Tender 28’ and 32’ are designed to serve two purposes with one boat: a cocktail cruiser for the owner who desires a hands-on boating experience for day or overnight cruises, and a 10 person launch with a spacious cabin and sheltered cockpit seating using the removable hardtop.
The Shannon Tender 28’ and 32’ are fiberglass boats with twin diesel engines capable of propelling the boat in excess of 30 knots, conventional drives for easy maintenance, shallow draft (2’6” and 2’9”, respectively), and a modified deep V hull shape for a smooth, yet dry ride in rough seas. The tenders displace 9,500 and 11,500 pounds, respectively, and can be stored in a tender garage or on deck. The exterior features a stern gang plank for easy boarding, a substantial swim platform, wrap-around aft seating for 10 with a removable hardtop for inclement weather, two helm seats and a cockpit table that can be readily stowed. The bow has an “Aphrodite” option for seating for 2 and a sundeck on the trunk cabin. The cabin layout can be custom designed or selected from several different options.
The Shannon Tenders will be detailed to match the spirit of the mega yacht it supports with the finest quality of exterior and interior jointer work and custom design features. It is Schulz’s belief that each tender should be treated as an extension of the mega yacht, rather than as a separate component.
Shannon custom “one-off” tenders from 20’ to 50’ are also available and can be designed in conjunction with the owner’s choice of naval architects.
