That was the principle behind Atlas.”&nbsp;With this principle in mind, the team focused on enhancing the owner’s private space, ensuring that they have the best vistas possible onboard the yacht, while also considering practical ways for them to connect to a seascape. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/332530/image/large-1e88bac626f2ac8777b53ba736e66775.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/332530">“We thought of creating a mezzanine structure at the bow, allowing the owner to have a cabin completely open to the horizon,” Enrico Lumini, Design Director and co-founder of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/908" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hot Lab (Company)">Hot Lab</a> stated.&nbsp;“At the same time, we created what we call the ‘welcome lounge’ aft – a space that is usually relegated to the secondary role of a beach club. On Atlas this is elevated both technically in that it sits above the waterline, and metaphorically, as it becomes a true main saloon and an entrance and welcome area onboard to be enjoyed with friends and family at any time of the day,” Lumini continued.&nbsp;Atlas’ stern design is integrated in the yacht’s simultaneously robust and elegant exterior profile, while her bow is high and her structure is sturdy, making her ideal to withstand a range of weather conditions.&nbsp;Moreover, each of the explorer yacht’s deck spaces offer plenty of alfresco entertainment possibilities, including swimming or launching tender via her stern, or lounging on her upper decks.&nbsp;Regarding her accommodation, Atlas can host those onboard across a full-beam owner’s suite, and four guest suites with direct access to the beach club due to the forward positioning of the engine room. The expansive owner’s suite also boasts a private foredeck area containing a spa pool for relaxation. Accommodation is also available for a crew of up to nine crew members across five crew cabins. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/332531/image/large-6075d00e5843faebc83ad6274606daea.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/332531">Moving indoors, Atlas’ interior decor can be customised depending on clients’ wishes, although the team primarily envisions a contemporary, minimalistic aesthetic exhibiting clean lines and smooth surfaces.&nbsp;The interiors also employ neutral colours and high-quality materials alongside light wood flooring with a plank pattern for a sophisticated, timeless atmosphere. Atlas’ saloon is flanked by vast panoramic windows for an abundance of natural light as well as uninterrupted views of the scenery.&nbsp;Performance-wise, Atlas is fitted with a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) hull crafted by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/460" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Van Oossanen Naval Architects (Company)">Van Oossanen Naval Architects</a>, and is projected to reach a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, over the course of a 5,000 nautical mile range.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Atlas offers extensive stowage for an array of tenders, toys, and water equipment, along with an optional touch-and-go helipad. Moreover, an owner’s suite can be found on the main deck and is complete with both a private office and spacious walk-in closet. The pool is situated close to the water level, so that guests can immerse themselves in the surrounding seascape. Meanwhile, the port and starboard integrated seating in the side hulls, bustles for those onboard to unwind.&nbsp;From here, the aft door leads to a vast beach club with a bar at the forward end of the pool, creating a ‘swim-up’ effect. The beach club is also decked out with a fitness area, dayhead, and changing room. The Perfect Charter Yacht’s six staterooms can be joined in pairs to form three spacious VIP suites, complete with lounge areas. Moreover, sliding doors either divide or unite the suites, making the spaces ideal for families chartering with children in adjacent staterooms.&nbsp;Outside, the vessel’s multi-level aft terraces allow guests to take in the scenery, while a swimming pool, sun loungers, and alfresco dining area allow for outdoor activities. During winter, two weeks at the high season rate and two weeks at the slightly lower rate would be easily achievable. "We have given her smooth lines that run from her bow and across all three of her tiered decks."Monte Carlo&nbsp;has been specifically designed to appeal to a new generation of owners who are spending more time onboard. The remaining guest accommodation will be split across the main and lower decks, with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/168" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Harrison Eidsgaard (Company)">Eidsgaard</a>’s design proposing a mix of up to five spacious VIP staterooms and comfortable double staterooms for the accommodation of up to 14 guests."We moved the guest staterooms up to the main deck, which allowed us to move &nbsp;the master suite up above to provide the owner with a great view forward and a penthouse feel. The suite includes a forward-facing bed, his-and-hers wardrobes, an owner's office and a Jacuzzi on her foredeck," commented Peder Eidsgaard.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/329281/image/large-0f898ed0f3a0233f0706b11f54b17861.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/329281">The superyacht will be one of the largest yacht's by volume ever built in Oss. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/54" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Heesen Yachts (Company)">Heesen</a>’s CEO, Niels Vaessen, explained that the design is a direct response to trends they are currently seeing in the market. “It is unusual for us to build a four-decker, but we have had a few requests for such a boat from former clients, so it made sense to create one. We are addressing a key market of owners that are looking to maximise space and experience on board to share with family and friends.”Peder Eidsgaard highlighted that the owner’s deck offers supreme privacy and could be utilised in different ways depending on their reference. “It is a very open master suite, with the bathtub, shower and office all interconnected,” he said.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/329280/image/large-d733ce7e3d20a41971a74d33ee1225c9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/329280">“The benefit of this arrangement is that an incoming owner can easily toy with the space devoted to each area. The potential is huge; you expand the master suite to include a private foredeck with its own sundeck, Jacuzzi and a fold-down balcony to starboard. From his/her office, the owner can walk straight out onto the balcony and take a seat.”Monte Carlo's design&nbsp;includes a large 23-square-metre pool, with glass sides giving the impression that you are swimming in the sea and fold-down wings on the aft deck that allow you to sit right over the water. There is also a firepit observation lounge under the mast, an outdoor kitchen, and a semi-open sky lounge seating area, including a hidden pop-up TV for movie nights."Her multi-level roof top terrace offers guests a great view of the horizon, with her seating area and firepit providing the perfect spot for relaxation. It also has a methanol-ready tank layout for future conversion to hydrogen combustion or even a fuel cell. It’s not every day that one has the opportunity to visit shipyards in the Far East, especially in China. In June, the inaugural SuperYacht Times <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/events/asia-pacific-summit-2024-2024" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Asia-Pacific Summit</a> in Hong Kong provided a perfect occasion to explore regional shipyards and marinas. Recently, the Asia-Pacific region has been increasing its share in the construction of yachts over 30-metres in length.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/332002/image/large-fea235340d9ae4c2209734e97934a880.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/332002">During the summit, SuperYacht Times' Head of Intelligence, Ralph Dazert, presented the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/market-reports/asia-pacific-superyacht-market-report-2024" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Asia-Pacific Market Report 2024</a>, which outlined this trend. According to the report, as of the beginning of 2024, builders from the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 509 out of the 5,787 operating yachts over 30-metres worldwide, representing a share of 8.8%. This positions the region as the third-largest superyacht construction area globally, following Europe (including Turkey) and North America. Moreover, over the past decade, the share of builders from the Asia-Pacific region has increased to 9.9%, with these builders delivering 159 out of the 1,604 yachts completed between 2014 and 2023. As a result, the region now ranks second after Europe, as the influence of North America has declined.SuperYacht Times Features writer Enrico Chhibber recently visited <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> at their facilities in Zhuhai, China, just before the commencement of the Summit. After a pick up in Hong Kong, Enrico met with Fiona Li, the head of marketing at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a>, and was driven across the border towards Zhuhai.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/332001/image/large-5cd01e6d8d238d387a69cdc8691186e9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/332001">Cheoy Lee</a> is one of the oldest family-run shipyards in the Asia-Pacific region, with a storied history. Originally founded in 1870 by the Lo family in China, the company relocated to Hong Kong in the 1930s. While the company maintains its head office and a small repair yard in Kowloon, Hong Kong, it relocated its construction facilities from Penny’s Bay to Zhuhai, China, in 1996. Since then, the Penny’s Bay site has been transformed into what is now Hong Kong's Disneyland.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/220646/image/large-5477a925a390ad705be09ae7d33a0b6e.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/220646"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> has constructed numerous innovative yachts and was one of the first shipyards in the region to use fibreglass, notably on the 39.78-metre motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3836" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nataly39.78m (130'6&quot;)Cheoy Lee1978">Nataly</a> (formerly Shango II), which was the largest fibreglass yacht ever built at the time of her construction in 1978. However, the yard's expertise extends beyond fibreglass; it also works extensively with steel and aluminium. Among the well-known superyachts constructed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> are the 46-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2621" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Avalon46.0m (150'11&quot;)Cheoy Lee2011">Avalon</a> and the 45-metre explorer yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2307" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Limited Risks45.0m (147'8&quot;)Cheoy Lee2007">Limited Risks</a> (formerly Marco Polo).Upon our arrival at the shipyard, we were warmly greeted by Martin Lo, the Director, and his nephew, Hans Lo, the Deputy Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a>. Hans represents the fifth generation of his family to work at the company. They escorted us to the main meeting room, where Martin shared his background in yachting. Born into a shipbuilding family, his career path seemed a natural progression. He emphasised the importance of a family-run shipyard to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a>'s identity. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/247078/image/large-b55615fc33411404935e67ddb8b13459.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/247078">In late 2018, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> underwent a strategic restructuring. The company's luxury production arm was rebranded as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6398" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CL Yachts (Company)">CL Yachts</a>, while larger custom builds continued under the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> brand. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> shipyards are focused on the production of commercial vessels, including offshore supply vessels, tugs, and ferries.Regarding the production ratio between commercial and pleasure yachts, Lo stated that at present it stands at 85% commercial projects and 15% pleasure craft. As for the yachts currently under construction, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> has two explorer motor yachts in the pipeline: the 39.73-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/10701" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer39.73m (130'4&quot;)Cheoy Lee2024">Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer</a> and the 32.76-metre Cheoy Lee 107. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/332003/image/large-040340f503dfd284944242680f218609.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/332003">Lo then explained that the city of Zhuhai and the surrounding area has developed into a hub for the production and refit of commercial vessels. Additionally, he mentioned that some local shipyards have recently started to venture into yacht construction.When asked about the state of the domestic yacht market, Lo explained that the majority of yachts built in China are intended for international markets. He specified that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a>'s primary clientele has traditionally been in North America, with additional clients in Europe. She has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and features exterior design and naval architecture by Overing Yacht Designs, while her interior was penned by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sylvia Bolton Design, Inc. (Company)">Sylvia Bolton Design</a>.&nbsp;During our tour onboard, it was evident to see Lo’s passion for yacht building and emphasis on quality. He shared that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/517" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cheoy Lee (Company)">Cheoy Lee</a> had formed a partnership with Genesis, an Italian furniture company based in Tuscany, to supply parts for the yacht interiors.
