Maverick completes voyage from Florida to Australia

The Maverick (ex Alexa S), one of Vripack’s famous Doggersbank Offshore designs, has recently completed an extraordinary voyage from Florida to Australia while towing their sport fishing vessel all the way.

This 95ft twin screw Displacement Motor Yacht, powered by two 385hp Caterpillar diesel engines, traveled 30,060 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean towing a 12 ton, 38ft sport fishing vessel. The journey, captained by Jason Langford, involved a passage through the Panama Canal, a stop at Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia, Fiji and New Zealand before arriving at Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

Maverick and her tender anchored off Moorea

As far as our knowledge reaches, this remarkable achievement which Maverick took in her stride, has never been completed by any other vessel before. With a paint job to match Maverick, the "Wrangler" is the ultimate tender. Fully decked out for game fishing, sports fishing, bottom fishing or just exploring. The Wrangler is towed behind Maverick on long voyages and comes into her own in the good spots.

Built in 2000 by Kuipers Shipyard in Woudsend The Netherlands, she was launched as Alexa S and was rechristened in 2004 by her second owners. Since returning to Florida after this voyage, Maverick has been sold again but retains her name. She is currently on her way to California ready for new challenges.
