The Mediterranean Yacht Show draws to a close for 2022

The seventh edition of the Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) drew to a close last week with more than 90 registered yachts attending this year. The event took place from April 30th to May 4th at the port of Nafplio after a two year absence due to Covid restrictions. The highly anticipated event was attended by over 600 yacht brokers and industry professionals, with a SuperYacht Times team attending as media partners for the five-day event. Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 The Mediterranean Yacht Show was organised by the Greek Yachting Association with the support of the Municipality of Nafplion. The event saw a wait list of over 20 yachts wanting to attend with over 30 countries from all over the world represented. Those who attended had the opportunity to see the yachts available for charter up-close, to get to know their crews and to be informed about the possibilities and options they offer.Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 The Mediterranean Yacht Show remains the largest in the world in terms of attendance, above the exhibitions in Antigua and Barcelona, which cover the markets of the Western Hemisphere and the Western Mediterranean respectively.Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 The event was opened on April 30th by the President of the Greek Yachting Association, Mr. Michael Skoulikidis, in the presence of the Mayor of Nafplion, Mr. Dimitrios Kostouros, the General Secretary of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments, Mr. Evangelos Kiriazopoulos, Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Mr. Panagiotis Nikas.Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 Michael Skoulikidis spoke proudly of this years event, with emphasis on the quantity and quality of yachts in attendance, “We have multiple times more yachts -totalling a cumulative length of over 3.4 kilometres- and bigger in length than all the craft that were on exhibit in France, Italy and Spain together.” As well as this, Skoulikidis pointed out the need for additional and coordinated actions to support Greek yachting, which is also the spearhead of the tourism industry.Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 The Mediterranean Yacht Show hosts a series of side events including the renowned Chefs' Competition, in which talented yacht chefs showcased their culinary talent to a panel of experts. This year saw Angelo Lantos of the two Michelin star restaurant Spondi, as well as Thanos Stasinos, the chef of the restaurants Huracan in Athens, Pacific in Monte Carlo and Ritz Carlton in Valencia judge the entries.Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022 This year saw 31 exhibitors’ stands with yachting-related services and products, with the Mediterranean Yacht Show once again placing yachting at the centre of global attention.
