Auckland based company C-Tech are known for taking carbon fibre technology and making it universal in the sailing world by designing and manufacturing premium carbon fibre products across a broad range of applications. SuperYacht Times talked to Company Director, Alex Vallings today at the METS show, where C-Tech are exhibiting for the 12th year.
The main product being showcased at the C-Tech stand is the improvements to the FlexiFurl range of furling composite battens so they can be used in superyacht headsails. He comments, “This year we’ve had quite a big improvement in our rolling battens to what we call Flexifurls, so the range has been expanded into superyachts and we’ve been trialling them over the past six months. Now we’re introducing them onto more boats, there’s been a lot of interest There’s not really another project on the market that does the job.”
Discussing the significance of the show to C-Tech, it’s clear that the METS is an integral, if not essential, event in the company’s calendar. Vallings states, “We’ve got to be here, really. It’s where we meet all of clients from Europe. Being from New Zealand it’s expensive to get around to all of clients, so everyone is here and it’s the time that we get to see the most people.” He concludes positively, commenting that, “this year has been better than the last couple of years, and we’ve had a lot of interest.” The METS will conclude today.
