METS is the world's largest exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry. This year the show celebrates its 25th anniversary! METS/SYP 2012 will be held on 13-14-15 November in the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre in the Netherlands.
Serious sailors looking to gain the edge this season have a cutting-edge tool they need to add to their arsenal. A solid but light composite plate batten, new to the market this year, will see brittle battens become a thing of the past. C-Tech’s C-T PlateBATTEN is set to top the must-have list of every skiff, multihull, cruising and racing sailor as its innovative technology establishes the new standard in quality.
Created with continuous outer layers of full-length fibres, the battens won’t delaminate or break as other carbon battens can, and are much lighter than fibreglass products. New Zealand company, C-Tech, developed the product to allow yachts from 12ft up to 90ft to use the same technology that C-Tech had already had strong success with in the superyacht market, with their CT Sailbattens range.
Doyle Sails NZ
Chris McMaster, Managing Director, and Matt Bridge, Superyacht Sail Coordinator, will be at the show representing Doyle New Zealand, sole producers of Stratis laminates. It has been a busy year, and as 2012 draws to a close the team has plenty of exciting projects to discuss, including the latest developments in the Stratis range.
Doyle Sails NZ is currently putting sails on the newly launched 50m sloop Ohana, built by Fitzroy Yachts, currently sail trialling in Auckland. Other upcoming superyacht projects include the 45m sloop Encore, launching from Alloy Yachts in early 2013, and a 52m Javier Soto Acebal schooner.
Bruntons Propellers' Eco*Star propeller
After three years of research and development Bruntons Propellers are launching the Autoprop Eco*Star propeller. It has been developed specifically for hybrid and solar powered vessels but is also providing remarkable improvements in economy and performance on displacement craft powered by diesel engines.
The company’s standard Autoprop is already in use on many electrically powered craft around the world and has been for several years; the result of naval architects and boat builders recognising that the propellers unique auto pitching abilities were exactly what was required on such vessels.
The latest addition to the award winning range of eSeries MFDs (multi-function displays), the e165 sports a full 15.4” 16:9 wide-format display and sits in the same footprint as a traditional 14” screen, giving 20% more screen for the same helm or dash space. The arrival of the e165 means that eSeries MFDs are now available in four sizes; 7”, 9”, 12” and the new 15.4” screen.
eSeries MFD’s are able to network up to 6 displays plus sonar, radar, thermal and other accessories. The super-bright LCD displays are backlit with LEDs to improve overall power efficiency and provide maximum linear brightness control.
