Best known for his success in offshore racing, Michael Peters will be speaking at the 2008 Yacht Vision Symposium. His topic - “Where Green Fits in to The World of Superyachts”.
Michael confesses that in winning 12 UIM World Championships, his race boats alone have consumed over 2 million gallons of fuel. Now, with the possibly more mature and almost sailor-like attitude that squeezing an extra 5 or 10% out of a 15-knot boat can be just as exciting as winning a race at 200+ mph, he should have an interesting perspective on the concept of the ‘green’ yacht.
Since 1981, Michael Peters has completed over 350 designs, leading to the construction of over 25,000 fuel-guzzling powerboats. His work has ranged from small production boats to custom motor yachts over 150’ in length.
Balancing aesthetic design and solid but creative engineering, the Michael Peters office is known for diversity and has been recognised for technical merit and innovation as well as artistic design. Awards from Showboats Magazine and the Superyacht Society sit on the shelf alongside the Kiekhaefer Memorial Award for Innovation in Offshore Racing.
