New Zealand’s Millennium Cup 2022 has been announced, with the first notice of race, recording that four super sailing yachts have already declared their interest in participating in the regatta. 
Photo: Jeff BrownThis year's regatta, which took place in March, saw a very successful event, with a number of superyacht owners vowing to return in 2022 to compete once again. The owner of the 44.75-metre Catalina, built at the Vitters Shipyard in the Netherlands, commented, “I now have the absolute best opinion of New Zealand. This event was thoroughly enjoyable, low key, and I will be remembering this for a long time to come.”
Photo: Breed MediaThe regatta, which was established in 2000, making it the longest running regatta in the South Pacific, also features one of the longest racing reaches in the world. The 2022 edition will take place from 14th - 22nd February.
Photo: Breed MediaAccording to event organisers, one superyacht owner has even declared the ambition to purchase a new sailing sloop for this event. This year's event saw sailing greats compete for the cup, including the legendary 35-metre Burmester schooner Aschanti IV of Vegesack, the 34-metre Royal Huisman sloop Sassafras, and the 28-metre Alloy yacht Tawera.
