The third edition of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/325" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit - 2026 - 3rd Edition">Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit</a> concluded in Kobe, Japan last month with nearly 200 attendees and 34 speakers attending the two-day conference.&nbsp; <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EThtbaZ_yVs?&amp;wmode=opaque" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> Each year, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/325" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit - 2026 - 3rd Edition">Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit</a> brings together industry leaders, yachting clients and key stakeholders with the shared goal of positioning the Asia-Pacific as a leading superyacht market and cruising destination.This year, visitors were able to take part in 14 and a half hours of networking, alongside nearly nine hours of panels and talks, with topics ranging from developing Japan as a superyacht destination, to how superyacht purchasing patterns are evolving in the Asia-Pacific region.Other topics and talks included Q&amp;As about understanding Japanese superyacht clients and Japanese business culture, as well as how Kobe is becoming a regional gateway for superyacht operations. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/395607/image/large-5fd67c82000e823a5f989810b704e62c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/395607">In 2024, plans were announced for the construction of Kobe Marina, a purpose-built superyacht marina intended to support Kobe’s wider waterfront regeneration ambitions. She is also equipped with a hospital to ensure the wellbeing of researchers, crew, and guests during expeditions and a video editing and production area for documentation and communication of scientific findings and conservation efforts.Sustain boasts specialised facilities, including a wet lab and dry lab, equipped with advanced data-gathering systems for conducting crucial marine studies. By using FAME, biodiesel emissions can be reduced by 50-80 percent, or 60 percent with HVO, creating a reduction of around 50-90 percent, and 83 percent on average. Additionally, the main engines can be converted to methanol when it becomes more readily available.Her WABTEC engines are certified to EPA Tier 4 emission standard, eliminating the need for SCR and urea exhaust aftertreatment, and enable owners/operators to obtain the ABS LEV(US) notation. These engines also surpass US EPA Tier 4 and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4531" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="International Maritime Organization (Company)">IMO</a> Tier III emission limits with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), to achieve EU Stage V emissions levels and obtain ABS LEV (EU) or BV ULEV vessel notations.For power generation, Sustain features direct rail injection for optimised operational efficiency at variable load cases. The generators can be switched to methanol operation or replaced with methanol engines when desired. She is also adorned with an array of solar panels and turbines to provide up to 92 kWh/day to the battery bank, supplying power to the electric toys and tenders, and giving that operation a ‘zero-footprint’.“For us, the goal was ‘effortless engagement’, providing a vessel where an owner could contribute by simply giving a thumbs-up. It’s a new way to look at how we develop all our vessels going forward,” concluded Robert Smith.

She boasts a carbon-epoxy superstructure, all-aluminium masts and rigging design imagined by Chris Mitchell. Powered by hybrid propulsion, Simena displays a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. An exclusive audience of superyacht owners and VIP guests were in attendance and they enjoyed an experiential dinner that included ballet and opera performances.
