The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2021">Monaco Yacht Show </a>is a wrap – and what an event it was! This year, coordinators and exhibitors went above and beyond to deliver a maelstrom of an event. 300 exhibitors and 90 yachts had originally been announced, but the final count far exceeded that with 440 stands exhibiting the latest market developments and innovations and 101 superyachts moored in the quays of Port Hercule – it is estimated that the value of the yachts on show exceeded €3.6 billion. Notably, there were 37 newly launched yachts and 14 superyachts above the 70-metre mark in the line-up. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/208228/image/large-6c2cb1dd38a7372015f2340f8b4bc483.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/208228">Gaëlle Tallarida, General Director of the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2021">MYS</a>: “We worked alongside stakeholders from across the industry in order to put on a show that meets the latter’s expectations and, more specifically, those of their clientele. The 2021 <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2021">MYS</a> appears to have benefited from the excitement spurred by this reunion, as well as from the favourable state of the market, with an increase in yacht sales over the last 18 months: clients have turned to yachting to escape the gloomy context that the pandemic has brought about and the frustration of having their freedom restricted. There was also an added sense of exclusivity shrouding 2021, as travel restrictions naturally resulted in a drop in attendance. The <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2021">MYS</a> also benefited from more clear-cut themed exhibition areas, as well as an invite only opening day which bolstered networking opportunities for industry experts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/208213/image/large-1afe5578fb09a7a6df7bf2e733fc1f96.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/208213">According to the show’s yacht builders and brokers, visiting schedules were jam-packed from the start to the finish of the show. What’s more is that there were many serious clients climbing onboard to experience the yachts on offer. The result was a more relaxed atmosphere, and with no overcrowding of the quays the experience for those customers was much more in line with the superyacht experience itself. It is important that we capitalise on this opportunity and continue on our chosen path, improving where necessary. Among these was the Yacht Design &amp; Innovation Hub, which was hosted by SuperYacht Times, and offered visitors cutting-edge insights into construction and future designs, thanks to lectures by designers <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/82" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Espen Øino International (Company)">Espen Øino</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/283" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luiz de Basto Designs (Company)">Luiz De Basto Designs</a>, Sam Sorgiovanni, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/926" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design (Company)">Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/69" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Winch Design (Company)">Winch Design</a>. The space also acted as a great place to meet the experts and spark interesting discussions with those at the forefront of the industry. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/207199/image/large-b304913ba639037fafa3f6f81db8a919.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/207199">Nestled in with the motor yachts were 12 large sailing yachts. Fitting considering sail boats only represent 15 percent of the world’s yachting fleet. The history of Turquoise Yachts goes back to 1970’s with the building of Turkey’s first yachts under the Proteksan and Turquoise brands.Since then, many more megayachts ranging from 40 to 77 meters in length have been delivered to an international roster of clients from the USA, UK, Europe and Russia. In 2014, MB Holding became the majority shareholder in Turquoise Yachts, confirmation of Turquoise as a high-end inventive and eminently capable custom builder. Representing the pinnacle in yacht building, we continue to upgrade our facilities and processes at our two shipyards and continuously have several superyachts under construction. To service our global customers, we now have offices in Monaco and Fort Lauderdale, as well as offering full technical assistance and support from our Istanbul headquarters.Turquoise Yachts has two shipyards, one in Istanbul at Pendik and the other in Kocaeli. The Pendik shipyard, used expressly for interior decoration and finishing work is just a few minutes drive from the international Sabiha Gokcen airport.The second shipyard with a 120m dock is located in Kocaeli, just across the bay from Pendik. Its main function is the completion of steel and aluminum hull and superstructure work, as well as the installation of machinery and heavy piping.
