The 57.6-metre motor yacht W has completed a 10-month refit at Feadship this month and redelivered to her owner following a successful handover trial on the North Sea. Amongst a host of new upgrades and modifications, W now sports a glistening new metallic silver hull, putting a modern spin on this classic contemporary Feadship.W yacht in MakkumPhoto: Feadship

W’s owner selected Feadship to carry out the extensive project in order to retain the vessel’s true Dutch-built identity for which she has become known for after operating as Larisa since her launch in 2013. “Owning a Feadship gives one an enormous sense of pride and I am convinced that the only way to retain full Feadship pedigree is to access the formidable talents and capabilities of the entire Feadship organisation. It was wonderful to be able to bring her back to the Netherlands and know that she would be upgraded by many of the same people that actually created her seven years ago.”W yacht in MakkumPhoto: Feadship

Modifications began inside the yacht where Feadship transformed W’s four-cabin layout into a six stateroom setup that is now able to accommodate four additional guests. Apart from the layout alteration, the original Banneberg & Rowell interior remains mostly unchanged and has been complemented by personal touches from the owner together with A La Mer, Inc from Fort Lauderdale. Elsewhere, the wheelhouse has been upgraded for a more modern look and feel, both MTU engines have been overhauled while a new sewage treatment plant was installed. All halogen lamps have been replaced with less energy-demanding LED bulbs across the yacht. W yacht in MakkumPhoto: Feadship

“The owner and his team are very pleased with the final result,” explains project manager Hans van der Wiel. “They asked for a wide array of additional activities to be carried out once the project was underway, confident that this would be money well spent. And the owner is delighted that the end result does not look like a refit – you really would feel that W was built this way in the first place.”W yacht in MakkumPhoto: Feadship
