ClubSwan, the high-performance division of Finnish shipbuilders Nautor’s Swan, have developed a new super maxi yacht, the 38.1-metre Clubswan 125, set to be the fastest mono-hull sailing yacht in the world. 
With recent successes with their smaller Clubswan 36, 20 units of which have already been sold, and the first hull of the new ClubSwan 80 currently under construction at Persico Marine, ClubSwan 125 is set to be very successful. The vessel, allegedly “the most advanced and radial maxi yacht in sailing history”, will be ready to launch in June. 
Enrico Chieffi, Nautor’s Swan Vice-President, commented, “ClubSwan 125 makes us very proud at Nautor’s Swan. This boat can be seen as the real representation of innovation through heritage.” Adding that, “Seeing our boat builders in Pietarsaari, working together with the most talented team in the sailing industry coming from everywhere in the world, it’s something extraordinary, pushing everyone to another level.”
ClubSwan 125’s hull, deck and superstructure are constructed in carbon fibre prepreg, with nomex/corecell core, lending the yacht a very light displacement for increased speed. The owner, a passionate yachtsman, gave the team a succinct brief; to create a record-breaking sailing yacht.
The naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian, who has designed three Volvo Ocean Race champions, has worked together with the shipyard to bring the project into reality. He wrote,“When I started working on the project of ClubSwan 125 together with Nautor’s Swan and the owner’s team, I felt thrilled. To design a racer sailboat, able to reach a speed in the region of 15 knots upwind and will always be faster that the wind speed downwind is something unique. I truly believe ClubSwan 125 will raise the stakes in the sailing world and set a milestone in the whole marine industry.” 
The team at Nautor’s Swan firmly believe that the ClubSwan 125 will mark a new era for racing yachts, setting a standard for what can be achieved.
