New 40m superyacht design from Van Geest Design

The Dutch design studio Van Geest Design has released their latest design for a 40 metre superyacht. Named Ocean Nomad, the vessel has been developed for an experienced yachtsman who gave a brief for a multi purpose yacht able to navigate all oceans.

She will accommodate guests over a five cabin layout, consisting of the commodious full beam owner’s stateroom located on the main deck as well as an additional four guest cabins on the lower deck.

Amongst her many stand out features is the Sky deck, which has been designed with entertainment, relaxation and enjoying life on board fully in mind. This area features a large open deck space with interior and exterior access from the bridge deck below. It features a Jacuzzi with a surrounding sunbathing area, bar, lounge/dining, BBQ, day head, storage and observatory seating forward, with the centre section protected from the sun by a large canopy.

The bridge deck houses the main salon, and boasts a 270 degree panoramic view. This salon has large deck to deck windows with a sliding door opening to its extensive aft deck, creating a light and airy ambiance. Forward of the salon is a dedicated gym with sliding doors to enjoy the outdoors while exercising. The aft deck will have a full panoramic view giving a true feeling of freedom and, if required, some areas can be protected from the sun by an overhead awning and eventual side panels. All deck furniture can be removed to accommodate a touch and go helipad, whilst the foredeck gives access to crew seating, crew tender storage, anchoring and mooring equipment.

The aft deck’s main feature is the unique tender storage, and small overhead cranes are foreseen to assist in handling sports equipment and supplies. The lower deck aft has a large bay to store a 30ft explorer tender.
