The Superyacht Cup 2009 has a new venue in the heart of Palma, close to the Cathedral and within easy walking distance of the restaurants, bars, hotels and shops of this very cosmopolitan Mediterranean city. The new Superyacht Cup dock, located at Muelle Viejo, will accommodate around 22 yachts (depending on beam) and a specially-designed marquee will provide the focus for all the owners, crew, guests and sponsors to gather each afternoon after the racing. The four-day event will open with a Welcome Cocktail Party on Wednesday June 24th, with racing on the following three days. The regatta closes on Saturday 27th June with the final Prize-Giving Evening, which will be held in the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, a stunning venue overlooking the harbour, yachts and City of Palma. Over 20 yachts have registered their interest for this years’ regatta, a wide range of designs and sizes from 24m to over 50m. In actual fact, the average length of the current in-build yachts in Turkey is 49 meters, with many of these yachts being motor yachts and motor-sailors as well as gulets.
