After a close race, the 36.19-metre Miss Silver has emerged as the initial winner on the first race day at the NZ Millennium Cup in the Bay of Islands. The kickoff of the superyacht regatta indicated that it would be close, with Miss Silver and the 44.75-metre Catalina rounding the first mark within one minute of one another. At the final mark, the 28.04-metre Tawera and Miss Silver were neck and neck but Miss Silver eventually came out on top on the first day of racing.

The NZ Millennium Cup will have two more race days and will conclude on Wednesday 31 March.
