Veloná Yachting operated for a number of years before it became part of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/136" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Independence (Company)">Ocean Independence</a> in 2005.Mario continued as a Director and Broker before falling in love with the natural beauty and local culture of Costa Rica where he retired in 2018. An aggressive illness forced Mario to return to the South of France where, in the presence of Ayrton and Alex, he peacefully sailed away on Tuesday, 9th May.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/270214/image/large-c71ad4eb56cca87cc0cc66ffb8e0bdbf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/270214">“Mario was an expert member of the yachting industry and gifted with a free spirit, genuine interest in people and immense charm. The Board has given me the power and autonomy to go and do what’s best for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4921" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SOS Yachting (Company)">SOS Yachting</a>, and an independent CEO ensures minimal crossovers between the two brands. Why?Monaco makes enormous sense; it’s the capital of yachting. Our French office isn’t far by any means, but Monaco is unique – there are so many of us in this small neck of the woods, and us planning to open here has been received positively from the industry.Any closing words about how the economical climate may impact the future?&nbsp;Mindsets have changed post-pandemic and from a macro-economic perspective it’s certainly positive for our strange little world. Five questions with SOS Yachting's new CEO Frédéric Dormeuil

Jamie Swaine has joined <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a>'s London office as Sales Consultant. Jamie has been actively and passionately involved in yachting since his childhood, cruising his family's motor yacht on the River Thames, and across the English Channel to France and Northern Europe. In his late teens he took his passion for the water to the next level, enrolling at Plymouth University to study Navigation and Maritime Science, working as a charter skipper in Croatia during his summer vacations. In 2012 he joined his first superyacht crew, working his way up to the position of Bosun and in 2017 he joined his first brokerage firm on the south coast of the UK.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/264519/image/large-780a81648d5ededd26997375509efd19.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/264519">With experience in new-build and brokerage yacht sales in the sub 30-metre market, Jamie's career moved into the superyacht sales and purchase industry, working as a broker for the London firm <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4507" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="TJB Super Yachts (Company)">TJB Super Yachts</a>. Italy-based yacht builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/473" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Overmarine Group SPA (Company)">Overmarine</a> has announced the launch of the first hull in the Mangusta Oceano 39 series. The 39.2-metre motor yacht was launched in Italy, with her owner, the Magusta team and all the workers involved with her construction in attendance. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/273018/image/large-1965135db3f79bb6c72a988df2926bb4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/273018">The Mangusta Oceano 39 yacht has been developed and engineered by the shipyard’s engineering department, in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3025" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Alberto Mancini Yacht Design (Company)">Alberto Mancini</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1365" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Verme Projects (Company)">Studio Verme</a>. &nbsp;The tri-deck yacht combines design and technology to create a strong identity in line with the Mangusta DNA.“We are so proud to see the first unit of this innovative new model in the water. She features a high volume normally found on larger yachts, with her interior design penned by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/473" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Overmarine Group SPA (Company)">Overmarine</a>'s technical department, alongside her owner.The first hull in the Mangusta Oceano 39 yacht series boasts floor-to-ceiling windows of her main and upper decks, which can be opened to seamlessly blend her interior and exterior spaces.&nbsp;Her aft area includes foldable terraces to provide direct access with the water, as well as providing guests with total relaxation in utmost privacy.
