The 85-metre Oceanco sailing yacht Aquijo sold with Gary Wright and Jonathan Zwaans of Y.CO introducing the buyer and Robert Shepherd and Bruce Brakenhoff Jr. of Edmiston representing the seller.Delivered in 2016, the fast cruising ketch marked the first cooperative effort between Oceanco and Vitters. Aquijo features exterior design by Tripp Design Naval Architects, with interior design penned by Dölker + Voges Design. The owner’s brief called for a comfortable performing cruising yacht, suitable for long range world-wide sailing with long-time independence from shore. Three key elements defined the design and build process of Aquijo: safety, comfort and performance.Hailing as the largest ketch in the world, Aquijo boasts twin 90-metre masts, which carry identical 1,192-square-metre mainsails, taking her total sail area to a staggering 5,051 square-metres. As a result of this, all her shrouds, winches and jib sheets had to be custom-made.Photo: Stuart PearceAquijo can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests across seven sumptuous staterooms, with her master suite situated on the bridge deck, alongside two VIPs, a double, a twin and two convertible staterooms on her lower deck. She also boasts three outdoor bars, including a main deck 12-seater bar, featuring a retractable television, multi-coloured lighting and beer on-tap.
