Onboard: The 37m Nautor’s Swan sailing yacht Audrey The First

The Finnish yacht builder Nautor’s Swan is world-renowned for its luxury sailing yachts, and the yacht Audrey The First is no exception. The 2021-delivered sailing yacht is part of the Nautor’s Swan 120 series; a sophisticated and reliable 36.5-metre vessel. The Buenos Aires-based maestro has been a house designer for Nautor’s Swan since the 1980s and contributes to its long standing collaboration between Argentinian flair and Finnish build-prowess. The Nautor Swan 120 yacht also sees a fully-custom interior by Mark Whiteley Design, who was closely involved in the General Arrangement development,  working in direct communication with the interior design department at Nautor’s Swan.Audrey The First yacht barThe brief for the yacht, Audrey The First, was simple; to marry and merge the two narratives of classic architecture and modern design into a new whole, while establishing a modern classic theme. To achieve this the team created bespoke furniture in rich mahogany with stainless steel detailing set against fielded panelling and white hand painted surfaces. Audrey The First is able to sleep up to eight guests across four sumptuous staterooms. The spacious owner’s suite is accompanied by an ensuite bathroom and luxurious furnishings.  hosts her remaining guests across a double stateroom and two twin staterooms. The detailed design conceals a sophisticated, electrically controlled bimini top and sprayhood, which disappears completely and is flush with the coach roof cassette when not in use, and offers extensive shelter from the sun and sea.Audrey The First yacht deckAt anchor, the cockpit area of Audrey The First transforms into an encompassing lounge space. With versatile deck sofas, it is the perfect place to unwind as the sun sets before converting into an elegant, intimate dining area. Audrey The First yacht deckBut it is the voluminous stern section of Audrey The First that really garners attention. The transom folds down hydraulically to form a teak-decked swim platform and reveals a spacious garage housing a tender of 4.5-metres and other toys of choice. Once the tender is launched, the large area becomes available for watersports, sunbathing and even alfresco dining. Audrey The First yacht deckThis design means, while under sail, the stern effortlessly transforms into a large ‘beach-deck’, connected to a well-organised ‘hangar’ for maximum entertainment at anchor. In addition to this, a section of the aft-deck may be opened up to convert into a large sunbed at deck level.Audrey The First yacht sailing Performance-wise, Audrey The First is equipped with one Scania engine that powers her to a top speed of 11.5 knots. She has a range of 1,875 nautical miles when navigating at cruising speed.
