Having recently delivered its latest high-performance motor yacht in time for the summer cruising season, Otam is now preparing to unveil the Otam 85 GTS yacht during its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. After rigorous testing on the Italian Riviera from Otam’s base in Genoa, the 25.9-metre Cara Montana has now embarked on her maiden season together with her owner in the Mediterranean. For this special project, Parisian design firm Joseph Dirand Architecture was selected to develop and design all interior aspects of the yacht including the layout and decor style. The owner was represented by Max Riedl, CEO of the German yacht consultancy company Cornelsen & Partner.
Together with the owner and Otam, a semi-open cockpit area was designed according to the client’s style and built using advanced composite materials.
Two large master suites - one in the bow and another full-beam amidships - add simplicity and a level of comfort that many high-performance cruisers lack. In addition, a spacious galley and dining lounge make for enjoyable living on board. Photo: Tom van OossanenPhoto: Tom van OossanenPhoto: Tom van Oossanen
To make Cara Montana as fast as possible without compromising on comfort, Otam together with Rola developed its own six-blade propeller that is designed to deliver the best performance at impressive efficiency rates. Burning only 16 litres per nm at a speed of 37 knots, the Otam 85 GTS is in a class of her own. Two MTU engines provide enough power for the yacht to reach 50 knots; a speed well over the 35-knot contractual speed of the project. The Otam 85 GTS will be on display at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival.
