Oyster Marine introduces the Oyster 885 sailing yacht

The exciting, new, Oyster 885 has been designed by Rob Humphreys as the perfect solution for those who would like to share the unmatched pleasure of cruising aboard one of these magnificent Oyster yachts - with the potential to recover some of the investment involved by chartering.

Designed to give the maximum length and specification possible without exceeding the MCA 24-metre rule, the Oyster 885 will provide an efficient and cost effective yacht for charter use, whilst detracting nothing from the appeal of private ownership.

Among the Oyster 885’s many attractions are her huge, ergonomically designed split cockpit - perfect for al fresco dining and relaxation whether at anchor or on passage - and her large, open deck areas, which include a fabulous ‘terrace on the sea’ with its own direct access from the sumptuous owner’s stateroom.

Her accommodation of course, is enormously spacious and beautifully fitted out with every luxury and practical live-aboard feature expected on a yacht such as this, as well as quite a few that you might not expect. In addition to the luxurious owner’s stateroom, which features glazed panels across the upper section of the aft bulkhead, bringing in an abundance of light and enhancing the spatial qualities of the cabin, there are three very comfortable en-suite guest cabins, one of which can be configured as a study or lower saloon area, all blending seamlessly and stylishly together to provide a real home from home. The crew has two cabins and their own galley with mess area, so privacy is assured for all guests.

The hull of the Oyster 885 is balanced and powerful, with a fairly fine entry that will help the boat cleave through a seaway with excellent Vmg, and at the same time the stern is relatively broad to deliver a high level of form stability and an off-wind potential that will rattle away the miles in any Trade Wind passage. The Oyster 885 has a twin rudder configuration and for slick manoeuvring in harbour, she will be fitted with both stern and bow thrusters.

With the option to specify either a deck saloon or raised saloon layout, the new Oyster 885 will be a graceful and exciting yacht with many new features. The first of class will be on the water in late 2012. We can’t wait to sail her.
