Organised by the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA), in partnership with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association, a ‘late surge of interest’ from high quality yachts wishing to take part in the 2nd edition Palma Superyacht Show (PSS) has pushed the total number of confirmations to 55.News that Thalia, the splendid 48.42mts ketch, built by Vitters in 1994, now takes over the role as ‘largest yacht’ in the Show, came as pleasant news to CNI Broker and President of BYBA, Arne Ploch, who said: “Out of 55 yachts on show, we have 29 sailing yachts, which is probably more sailing yachts above 24mts than at any other public- admission show in the world. We have also been pleased to see the number of brokerage companies bringing yachts steadily increase from the original 6 BYBA members to 19 brokerage companies, with many from the UK and South of France".“Ashore we have some 30 diverse companies exhibiting everything from yacht care and maintenance,onboard communications and medical services, through to yacht administration, yacht insurance and more".“From the client side, we have seen positive feedback from direct mailings with many VIP ticket requests already in. Organisers of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4556" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cannes Yachting Festival (Company)">Cannes Yachting Festival</a> have announced a change to the show layout for September 2024. The alterations are planned for next year’s event due to ongoing modernisation works at the Vieux Port.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/286638/image/large-441f32ca5be45acb28a06da9315b5475.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/286638">The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4556" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cannes Yachting Festival (Company)">Cannes Yachting Festival</a> is spread across two ports, both of which are a short walking distance from each other. The Vieux Port is one of the oldest harbours on the French Riviera and during this year’s event, was home to 540 yachts, while Port Canto welcomed 115 sailing yachts from 10 to 30-metres.The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4556" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cannes Yachting Festival (Company)">Cannes Yachting Festival</a> is managed by RX France, and the technical teams and Show Director Sylvie Ernoult have been working together with the City of Cannes and MVPC, since the first quarter to design a new, optimum layout that is suitable for the show while the work is being carried out.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/286276/image/large-1a1de47b5af69bc4f3f13bf690b09332.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/286276">The city of Cannes plans to renovate and modernise the Vieux Port resulting in new areas being created. The other areas in the Vieux Port will remain the same as in previous years.“We have been working hard for several months now to arrange the best installation possible for 2024, taking into account the various technical and safety constraints. The use of containers allows owners or special charters to adapt the vessel to their evolving needs by incorporating modular areas within or onboard the yacht. Containers can be filled with the necessary equipment for polar exploration, diving, skiing or a myriad of other explorative activities.
