Palma Superyacht Village returns for 2022

One of the yachting industry’s favourite shows, the Palma International Boat Show and Palma Superyacht Village returns for 2022. The event previously known as Palma Superyacht Show, will take place from 28th April to 1st May 2022 in the heart of Palma de Mallorca at Moll Vell Marina. The familiar and popular show offers an excellent display of superyachts above 24 metres that are available on the international brokerage and charter market.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht VillageWhen it comes to chartering, Palma Superyacht Village is one of very few shows that welcome clients to inspect the yachts, instead of allowing access only to brokers. In addition, a wide variety of local and international refit and service companies will be at their booths, ready to do business and network with both old and new customers.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht Village The exhibitor bookings show a strong recovery from the pandemic-induced slowdown last year.  From early March, the dock-side exhibition was just about fully booked, and much like the previous events, there is an important element of loyalty with a high percentage of returning exhibitors. Although the space is limited at the downtown harbour, Palma Superyacht Village has always searched for ways to respond to the needs of the different segments of the industry. In 2017, the event saw the introduction of a Refit & Repair Area which has since grown in popularity and is currently the first area to get booked up.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Sofia WinghamreThis year sees the launch of yet another new concept, a crew area with a strong emphasis on professional training, crewing as a career and of course relaxed networking between professionals. Palma Superyacht Village has teamed up with Acrew, a well-known Palma based professional network of over 15,000 captains and crew, to set up a training and networking hub on the Esplanade. This new concept will further enhance the show’s diversity and attraction among visitors and yachting professionals alike.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht VillageWhile details are being fine-tuned on the dock-side areas, including the new and exciting Crew Area, the moorings have been filling up at a fast rate. Brokerage yachts are normally booked very late for the simple reason that the availability status can change at a moment's notice, but this year the situation is different – never before have the yacht bookings been so active so early on. Owners, yacht managers and captains of large, deep-keeled sailing yachts know that they need to plan ahead if they want to make sure to get a mooring in the limited exhibition area, therefore some of the biggest and most spectacular sailing yachts have been among the first ones to secure their space at the superyacht exhibition.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht VillageOn display will be the 34-metre yachts Song of the Sea and Mystery, both built by Nautor's Swan, as well as the 34-metre Spiip and 40-metre Surama both from Royal Huisman. Also among the 34-metre showcases will be Nilaya by Baltic Yachts, the 35-metre Green Marine-built Sojana and the 37-metre Norfolk Star from Perini Navi.

Additionally, there will be some authentic heavyweights in attendance, ready to increase the heart rate of the occasional yacht spotters and potential clients alike. Among them is the high performance 46-metre Vitters sloop Ganesha and the 44-metre robust and elegant, round the world cruiser Imagine from Alloy Yachts. Both were designed by the sharp pen of Dubois Naval Architects.Pin Gin VI yacht cruisingPhoto: Fraser YachtsThe elegant and innovative Pink Gin VI, with her majestic 54 metres is the largest carbon-fibre sloop rigged sailing yacht in the world, and is a proven performance world cruising yacht with many ingenious and unique features. Built by Baltic Yachts in 2017, she has just been relaunched after winter maintenance and class surveys to be able to offer her to the market in as new condition as possible.

Palma Superyacht Village’s impressive lineup solidifies its reputation as one of the most important sailing yacht shows in the Mediterranean. Those looking to be thrilled by motor yachts will also have a treat in store, thanks to a very active sales market for the last couple of years. For visitors weighing the possibility of purchasing or chartering a motor yacht, the show will provide a perfect chance to see what is available on the market right now. Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht VillageVisitors will be able to compare the likes of the 26-metre Delta Powerboats yacht Shockwave, the 27-metre Yes by Cantiere delle Marche and the 29-metre Ciao from Moonen, as well as the 30-metre Camena from Lowland Yachts. The impressive 33-metre Benita Blue from Evolution Yachts, the classic Benetti Odyssey III, and the 35-metre Ocean Pure 2 from Concorde will also woo the visitors’ attention with their very distinctive silhouettes.

The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) at the other end of Moll Vell will be buzzing with all things new and exciting from the likes of Sunseeker, Fairline, Sanlorenzo, Pearl and Ferretti, just to name a few. Many international yacht constructors have seized the opportunity to come and launch their new models in Palma for lack of suitable occasions earlier, due to event cancellations and strict Covid restrictions. Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma International Boat ShowPIBS has witnessed an increasing popularity of catamarans over the recent years due the comfort and space they provide, and the trend continues this year. Similarly, the new-era tenders, with their modern and innovative styling, continue to conquer more space at the show, as do the towable semi-rigids and inflatables. This is probably a testimony to increased interest in affordable sea-borne activities among the local residents, drawn to yachting and water sports like so many others who discovered that sea is actually a relatively safe place in a pandemic.Palma Superyacht VillagePhoto: Palma Superyacht VillageThe two sides of the show come together to provide guests with a plethora of different kinds of vessels and services on display to create an alluring exhibition of the best on offer in yachting.
