PB Behage Yacht Designer reveal new 70.7m superyacht concept

Dutch design company P.B. Behage have revealed their latest superyacht concept. Named Retro, the 70.70 metre motor yacht. Accommodating up to ten guests on board, she is highly customisable, and also includes the option of an additional two cabins for children or the owners private staff.

Throughout, Retro is luxurious and sophisticated, with marble and parquet floors and the careful use of high quality woods. In regards to her accommodation, the full beam master stateroom is a highlight, and includes a library and office, large en suite bathroom with walk-in wardrobe, Jacuzzi and steam shower.

Powered by a hybrid propulsion system that uses three engines, she will have a high level of fuel efficiency whilst able to deliver a range in excess of 5,300 nautical miles when cruising at 12.8 knots. Further demonstrating the further level of customisation available, the aft main deck can be altered to incorporate a touch-and-go helipad.

Talking of his design process for the Retro 70.70 metre concept, owner of the studio Peter Behage, comments, “I began to work on some ideas that combined the beauty of classic vessels with the amenities found on modern yachts and believe that the answer to achieving a unique and timeless yacht can be found as well in the styling of classic yachts.”

Continuing to describe the project, Behage says, “ We also focused our attention on reducing the overall weight of the vessel, created a distinct interior with beautiful, high quality furniture, and wanted to create a feeling of space on each deck level that has been achieved by having a clear ceiling height of 2.3 metres inside. It was important too that the design allow an easy access to all areas of the vessel for improved maintenance and, which important is for long-range ocean cruisers, every deck zone can easily be adapted to suit the mood and atmosphere of the moment. Another key feature is the inclusion of a fresh water sprinkler system to minimise the build-up of sea salt on the hull, and will keep the hull clean and fresh.
