5 questions with… Bluewater’s founder on the company’s expansion

After serving a commission in the Royal Navy, Peter Bennett moved to the South of France to break into the superyacht industry with Bluewater. As a talented broker and having been commissioned on various projects between 30 to 100 metres from shipyards such as Pride, Benetti, Heesen and Turquoise, Bennett’s career has seen him follow superyachts throughout their entire lifecycle.

Peter Bennett Founder of BluewaterBennett and his experience have laid solid foundations for the successful company Bluewater, which after over 29 years in action, has continued to expand in not only global reach and office location, but as the single provider of yacht brokerage, yacht charter, yacht management, crew training and crew solutions. The company are the only company able to sell, charter and manage yachts on which the crew were recruited and trained in-house.

Now with an impressive fleet of charter and yachts for sale with Bluewater, Bennett shares an insight into what makes the company stand out, how they’ve set up shop in Monaco and what superyachts to keep an eye on.  Bluewater promotion stand MYSWhy does Bluewater stand out?

I believe that spending time learning every aspect of the industry is important, as there is so much variety in yachting and the opportunities are endless - plus one of the strongest influences on the market is quality industry employees who know what they are talking about! These factors are important and from day one, I wanted to have a company that offered one complete service, so Bluewater started as a crew placement agency before rapidly expanding into crew training, yacht charter, yacht brokerage and yacht management. We are the only major yachting company to offer such a range of services and now with 29 years of experience, Bluewater offers our diverse and global client base an excellent personal service with a global vision.Monaco Yacht Show 2019 Day 2Photo: Charl van Rooy / SuperYacht TimesWhen and why did the Monaco Sales & Charter office open?

Bluewater already had strong ties with the Principality, particularly through our training partnership with the Monaco Yacht Club, La Belle Classe, where we host our annual Yacht Chef Competition every spring. Between Port Hercules, Yacht Club de Monaco and the Monaco Yacht Show, Monaco really is at the heart of yachting and so opening a Monaco office in Le Beau Rivage was clearly the natural progression to complement our significant Antibes office presence.

Our new position will also help to enforce our strong network with the other 17 Bluewater offices around the world and so, the team and I are really excited about the opportunities this new office provides us with and we look forward to strengthening our relationships with our clients in the Principality and beyond.Icon in Golfe-JuanPhoto: Bruno BuissonAre there any further plans to expand the company?

Yes, we will be looking to bring new sales and charter brokers on board to add to the already strong team in our Monaco office. The Bluewater group employs over 120 people worldwide and we are always looking for new ways to expand and improve the service we provide to our clients. The yachting industry is constantly evolving and we aim to be at the forefront of change. A yacht broker 20 years ago only needed to know about the yacht, the deal and the sale, but today business has to be a lot more focused and knowledgeable. Because of this, I am constantly pushing my team to develop bespoke, innovative services the industry is demanding in this world of fast-moving connectivity.Mosaique yacht cruisingPhoto: Charl van Rooy / SuperYacht TimesWhat would you say are the most interesting yachts currently listed with Bluewater?

We have a trio of interesting yachts in the 35 to 40-metre range including the 37-metre The Devocean, a beautifully maintained 2008 Sunseeker, Giorgia - a beautiful Benetti Classic 120 priced to sell, and Fiorente, a 36.95-metre Ferronavale motor yacht that been invested in considerably over the past few years and is a great opportunity for her next owner. Our charter fleet is also rapidly expanding, with standout yachts including the 67.5-metre RWD-designed Icon, the sleek 40-metre 2013 Admiral Giraud and the new 32.2-metre Salt delivered earlier this year from Sanlorenzo.Icon Yacht - running shotPhoto: BluewaterYou are representing the 50-metre Turquoise yacht for sale Mosaique. What are her best features?

She is the best value 50-metre yacht on the market. Mosaique is a sleek and stylish yacht with a great volume of 589 GT and a beautiful, light interior by Donald Starkey and Kristina Ferrand. Her full-beam master suite is one of her standout features along with the alfresco dining area for up to 16 guests on the upper deck and a great Jacuzzi area on the sun deck.

Mosaique is ideal for an owner looking to enjoy the Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons and might like to make use of her strong reputation as a very successful charter yacht. As a very versatile superyacht, she is perfect for anything from a family holiday to large, corporate event charters.Mosaique yacht cruisingPhoto: Charl van Rooy / SuperYacht TimesTo find out more about Bluewater, contact the company directly at their new Monaco Sales & Charter office via the details found below.
