Pieter Beeldsnijder passes away

Pieter Beeldsnijder, one of the industry's longest contributing designers and certainly one of the most renowned designers of Holland, has passed away. Founder and Director of PB Design based in Edam and established in 1979, Pieter started out in the industry in the late 1950s. Over the past half a century, he contributed over 2,500 yacht and shipbuilding designs.

Just one of Beeldsnijder’s most notable designs is the 47.42 metre sailing superyacht Hyperion, built by the Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman in 1998 and taking three prestigious titles in that years’ industry awards: Best Sailing Yacht Over 38m in Showboats Awards, Best Sail 36+ in the International Superyacht Design Award, and Best Sail Interior in The Superyacht Society Design Award.

Other beautiful - and award winning - boats to come from the drawing board of Beeldsnijder over the years include the 32 metre sailing yacht Gliss, completed in 2006, as well as the 42.1 metre sailing yacht Hanuman, both of which were also built by Royal Huisman.

Pieter Beeldsnijder has undoubtedly left his talented mark on the superyacht industry, and will be sadly missed.
